"war game" is a bit of a grey area when you go back and look at how CoD was always cinematic and painted sides of a war in black-and-white.
and it was always a run and shoot people game, maybe not with sniper rifles exclusively but that's not unheard of.
except in the first game where there wasn't a sprint and you could use vehicles. oh and how there was no steady scope button, you had to go prone. and how there was noticeable recoil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkD5T0bTq2s

The game play is still the same, it's a variation of shoot stuff or knife stuff. You guys know very well nobody uses a grenade only class because they'd get buttfucked in 2 seconds.

There's more than just TDM/CTF/S&D in most recent CoDs lol
Headquarters, uh, hardcore modes, uh, team tactical, uh... hardpoint? That's the only new one lol. Team Tactical is TDM or any of the other modes with a player cap of 8, and old-school mode was fun, but not recent. Party Games are just ripped off from other games, sorry to let you know.

The pick-10 system is creative because it allows different users to have different custom classes rather than the basic "choose primary choose secondary" classes. It's a creative thing. Better than previous CoDs. So basically the "oh man the older games were better!!!!1" argument.
No, it's the "guns took skill to use, they felt satisfying, there was more than infantry combat, and there were more gamemodes than the TDM/CTF/S&D (which is really Counter-Strike mode)" argument.

flooding mid-game, wildfire starts randomly, tower falling, etc
basically altering the map not really, they're not very noticeable/useful/neat-looking only good one is the flood thing every few mins on that one dlc map
You're acting like that's new and innovative.

Call of Duty has been stepping back into the cess pool since COD UO. The guns in COD UO felt satisfying, actually needed skill to use (the recoil on the MP44 was a bitch) and there were vehicles to prevent camping. Plus, the base mod, which is one of the best modes in any video, was innovative and fun. It required tank-infantry coordination to kill a bunker and destroy the basement.
