IL-2 Sturmovik 1946


IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 (The original plus all the expansions) has lived up to be one of the most realistic and fun WWII Combat flight simulators out there. It features things such as realistic damage models, realistic flight models, a full mission editor, great graphics if you have a good enough card to set everything to extreme, and an awesome campaign mode which lets you be a pilot for both sides (Allies and Axis).

There is multiplayer, but you'll need to download a special client called Hyperlobby to play it online. A lot of people still play, so it shouldn't be hard to find a server. The modding community is also very large and have made pretty much everything from WWI Fighters to a helicopter.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of prey


While this one was not as fun as 1946, it was the first to come out for consoles. In the singleplayer campaign, it's only possible to fly as the allies, unlike it's predecessor. The graphics are pretty damn good but I prefer the other IL2 much more.

While I have never played this, i've heard that it's a pretty cool game. Apparently you need a supercomputer to run it, though. And it's buggy. If you have anymore details, let me know.
