The idea of the game is to travel around a region, fighting corrupted animals and bosses in attempts to save the elements.

The storyline of the gameplay goes like so:
   Just a few days ago, a meteor had struck the earth in the ruins near Firetown. The meteor sent corrupted matter of sorts throughout the Province of Elements. This matter infected the rulers of the elements, corrupting the rest of the elemental region they rule. Firetown is the only safe place. We are in need of a hero to stop this infection and save the Province of Elements!

The gameplay is a bit unsteady. I also need ideas. That's where I need your help.

So far, here is the dev. :

•Bosses contain part of the final boss, ie. Sadex has the soul; defeating him will release the soul.
•Each part of final boss:
  -Bones (Rock)
  -Skin (Ice)
  -Soul (Lava)
  -Blood (water)

So what language / engine will you use?
Not sure yet, any suggestions? It's going to be 8/16-bit, styled like Pokemon.

Java or XNA. XNA is pretty much an add-on library for C#.

I don't like working when the big guy
A) gives up
B) forgets and quits
C) isn't very informative

Just a question, do you have a quick sketch a map, because it's a bit hard to just make something and poof

i have half a map, I guess you could build off that
It's only the ice land and Incognitia missing.

Idea for Ice name: Trikila.
Idea for Water name: Solono.

Also, final bosses blood should be water.

a.) Mkay, but I was hoping for the water to have more of a Japanese/Chinese name.

Shouldn't that be the other way around?

I'd love to help but I know jack stuff when it comes to video game languages.
I do love making scenery though, and I've been working with pixel art recently.

It depends on what your priorities are.

C++ has wonderful speed and an extensive community (plan to spend half your dev time reading documentation)
Java is a resource hog(in my experience), but is compatible with almost(?) every OS; less effort
XNA/C# is like Java, and is quicker to code with because of the IDE it uses

As for the others, I don't know much about.
I heard Perl and Common Lisp are good though.
