Alright, you nigs need to start thinking about this from a business perspective rather than an anti-fb perspective.
If facebook even thinks about touching the development of the Rift and its software, they risk losing a good chunk (maybe even all) of that $2bil they spent on Oculus, in fact, the news alone suggests they may lose some of it unless they publicly promise not to touch the Rift. So unless they hate money, the Rift's development will continue as planned with zero intervention from FB other than earning some of the profits.

I know I won't buy it if they start loving with it.

loving like buttons on everything these days.

"Imagine enjoying a court side seat at a game, studying in a classroom of students and teachers all over the world or consulting with a doctor face-to-face — just by putting on goggles in your home."

You could always go to an actual game, and then truly be part of it and have a unique view of it, rather than an identical one to you and the hundreds others using their Rift. If you're not personally experiencing this then surely it's just like watching a game on TV.

You could always study with students and teachers from all over the world on a computer. Whether with the Rift or not you're still not actually in a classroom and won't experience the touch and feel of that place.

And why would you want to consult with a doctor via an Oculus Rift? They can't see you and they can do zero examinations on your person. That is why people go to the Doctor's after all. To be checked over and treated for physical problems. They don't go there just for a chat.

The Oculus Rift has some great applications, such as Games, Movies and Theatre, but some of these suggestions just seem pointless and unnecessarily void of physical contact/presence.

I think they're trying to enforce the "you can live your entire life without having to move." idea of the future.

forget
if facebook bought oculus rift then there isn't a guarantee it will be for 3rd party games
mostly some stuffty facebook chat port and skype port
good job zuckerburg.

what if, EA is Facebook and Disney secretly disguised?

EDIT: loving stuff, i just bumped a topic. oops

We are one step closer to the movie surrogate where people can hide in their homes all day and control an android from a pod. A future I do not want to live.

I think humanity should work towards technology that encourages going outside and interacting with people face to face.
