OK, PERFECT IDEA.Two 6870s in CrossfireX!I can later Tri-crossfire in case i need the extra juice (can I?)Plus it's worth the money! :D.And I heard CrossfireX scales much better than SLI in Nvidia.
Yeah, just make sure you get a 6870 with 2 CF fingers and not one lol.
crossfire fingers? me no understand :c.I found some bridges on Newegg, just not any "fingers"
The card has fingers which the bridge slips on to. If you have 2 cards they do this:||=|||| ||If you have 3:||=||=|||| || ||However you can't do that if the one in the middle only has one finger. Also read my edit above.
Perhaps you should wait until you have the money to keep asking questions. If it's going to be 2 years then why do this now? In 2 years the 580 will be similar to what the 280 is right now compared to the next generation(s) of cards.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131446This and then add a third, but it's $100 more than getting 2 of them.
now i have to remove SSD to stay in budget. DAMNIT. :C
Thing is, I have to get something that'll last me a while. As my dad will certainyl say no to buying another 6970 for crossfire in the next months :c.
A 6970 will be completely ample at 1080p.
