Ignoring the color and obvious placement issue, is there anyway I can get mixed shading in Blockland (i.e, having some faces flat and others smooth.) through either ports or the original Blender exporter?

Use an edge split modifier, I think flat shading in tork works by separating the faces.

alternatively you can edge split faces (select faces and press y) then smooth shade them. i do this even though edge split modifier is probably easier
