for the first one, i would recommend using lamps and setting up your lighting settings for shadows
im not going to list all of the commands for it here, however i included how to set these up in a guide and provided a source incase something's not working right

the second one however is fine, i'd suggest zooming in with the camera for those screenshots you made though
