Games / Re: HTC Vive will be $799

according to Nvidia ur all good 2 go for VR
both nvidia, oculus, and valve/htc recommend at least a 970/r9 290, both of which are better than the 780

so, not good to go

It's pretty obvious once a big triple AAA game gets released you no longer need 100 people paid by the hour to maintain it.

Most of the staff gets cut off leaving down to 20 people working on bug fixing and server balancing and that's about it.

If anything he's lucky he is working at TT games because lego games are so recycled and easy to make that don't even require a detailed storyboard process that they are constantly putting out new lego games so when one game gets released they immediately start working on the next recycled asset lego game.

They won't need to lay him off because most game studios need long breaks in between to figure out on just a story.

Lego games just imitate an already made story based off whatever movie IP they are imitating. So you don't need a long ass hiatus to write the story of the year here.

Communist,i seriously wonder if you literally have all the AMD GPUs ever made up in your ass. This is getting absolutly ridiculous.
whats wrong with saying that AMD cards are more future proof? you made stuff up and now are throwing insults. and no, i have owned nvidia and AMD gpus. GTX 560 Ti, GTX 970. Amd 7770, 7870, R9 290X and 390X. i have that 560 ti in my brother's rig for CUDA acceleration for adobe programs and I think some audio stuff. R9 390X in my rig currently. i do my research. i don't know why you have a hard on for nvidia cards

lol where did you get this
he isn't exactly wrong, AMD cards have somewhat poor opengl performance. DX11 support is far better and early DX12 stuff show AMD completely wrecking Nvidia cards.

Like i said, blockland runs better on Nvidia cards. Why are you recommending an AMD GPU on the blockland forums?
it doesn't take much to run blockland shaders. you won't see a difference between a GTX 970 and an R9 390 in this game. if you play just blockland, get a stuffty GTX 560 off of craigslist and you'll be fine

????????
i never said that
i've yet to see a game use more than 2.8gb of vram on my 970, as the only game that hit 2.8 was rust because of memory leaks
????

that the big boy 390 on the block isnt all that its talked up to be
what, by showing my a video of GTA 5 with a GTX 970? what exactly did it prove? again, your own video showed usage close to the 4GB area, which will definitely be a wall in the future. theres a reason why the 3GB 7970 completely outperforms a 2GB 680 a few years later, even though the 680 was slightly better at launch

again, not to mention that the R9 390 is simply better on average. i showed you the results from like a dozen games summed up into one graph.

you're too far up the 390's ass to even understand what im trying to say
hey, if you think nvidia's rooster tastes nice, i won't judge

you said modern games don't use more than like 2GB of VRAM. i show you that most modern titles use more VRAM than that. this gives cards with more VRAM an advantage. what exactly are you trying to prove to me.

R9 390X came in today

okay, dont take my word and every single other person that owns a 970 and plays gta, heres some proof since you refuse to believe the truth

https://youtu.be/maHjxA6F2nE?t=1m25s
lol? the first link showed VRAM consumption in the ~3.5GB range toward the end of the video (hitting a wall), the others don't even show VRAM usage

?? i guess you proved my point??

where are they in the game when they record these tests?
built in benchmark i am assuming
what graphics card are they using?
Titan X
what operating system?
win 7
seems to me that its full of stuff because i assure you i would notice if the card went over 3.5, and i play with all maxxed
i'd rather trust a professional reviewer than you

If you are playing a next gen game with AA and not trying to get 30fps,then you are doing it wrong.
did I say otherwise?

above?

never seen it go over 2GB  even when maxxed on my 970

just took the first review I saw

okay?  i've never denied this
why do you keep bringing it up? AMD users aren't forgeted over, it's a card that performs better

i've yet to see a game use more than 2.8gb of vram on my 970, as the only game that hit 2.8 was rust because of memory leaks, so as far as im concerned the 7970 and 780 ti are still fine
at 1080p, far cry 4 uses ~2.5GB, fallout can use up to 3GB, shadow of mordor uses almost 6GB, GTA V also goes above 4GB, rainbow six siege uses above 3GB, skyrim mods can push it up to 8GB. 1440p and 4k? values are significantly increased

and yet developers will continue to forget amd over to fuel the nvidia monopoly machine, so again, also customer reviews on the 970s are generally higher than those on the 390
forget over or not, the R9 390 still performs better on average.

Theres a small issue with that. AMD cards usually just have too much VRAM. So much so they probably cant use it at all with the performance of the card. 8GB of VRAM is completly insane unless you want to use a card like the Titan X but that has 12GB. I find the best card for balance is the 980 Ti even if i dont have a card even comparable to it. (Geforce 640 1GB)
GTX 680 had 2GB. 7970 had 3GB. guess which lasted better??
GTX 780 Ti had 3GB. R9 290X had 4GB. guess which lasted better?

reminds me of how some amd processors have  6 - 8 cores for some reason but yet most games can only use 1 - 2
AMD CPUs are absolute horsestuff for gaming, Ill agree with that

You are an AMD employee/
lol
By the way,Nvidia cards are more future proof.
?? are you kidding? the R9 290X was equal to the GTX 780 at launch. nowadays, a few years later, it outperforms a GTX 780 Ti and the GTX 970. the 7970, at launch, matched a 770. now, a few years later, after being rebranded into the R9 280X, it clearly outperforms it by a wide margin. GCN arch is better suited to DX12 as well and most of their cards have more VRAM. what you said is p false

Why does that chart show 970 sli as having 8g?
Sli dosnt work like that
vendors and manufacturers combine it (ie GTX 690 sold as "4GB", R9 295X2 sold as "8GB"), no idea why

eithet way the R9 390 can be found for cheaper than a GTX 970 so i would definitely recommend it if you want more horsepower

in what "new games"?

the only new games i see so far where the 390 is doing better is witcher 3 and battlefront, and even then the difference is around 5 fps on average

heres a "new" game where exactly what i talked about is happening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15wOp7_dD8E

so in the end would you rather have the big card that sometimes cant be used properly or the smaller card that has little difference and is used properly?

fallout 4 is an exception.
https://www.techpowerup.com/mobile/reviews/Sapphire/R9_390_Nitro/1.html
they tested 14 games. at resolutions 1080p and above, on average, the R9 390 maintains clear superiority with modern drivers.
images below are cumulative results combining all tested games.

plus, you are getting: 8GB of VRAM (futureproof), proper async shaders (benefit in VR, DX12), full DX12 support (Maxwell cards are a bit weird in that regard)

so pretty much, unless you are brown town about power consumption/heat output, get the R9 390
