I believe this may have been suggested for 0002 but I want to put it out there for Retail.

How about a firefighting mod?

Not too extreme mod-wise, heres the features I would like...

Handheld water cannon (Simple really, a gun model which I can make, that shoots a blue water-like emiiter that is effected by gravity and behaves like water.)

Fire/flames (This is the tricky bit. Basically the bricks should use the flame emitter. A wand like tool can/could be used by admin to start a fire by hitting a brick. Fire should spread to adjacent bricks over time. Firefighting tools should put fire out. Fire should also cause damage to players within a radius so its dangerous to run straight into a burning building. Bricks left on fire too long should destruct and automatically destroy and supported bricks above it (like destructo wand) so that way structures can be collapsed. Bricks should also turn black with time.)

Optional...

Firetruck
Fireplane (which can dump a set amount of water and refill on water contact)
Clothing to offer protection bonuses. Like a firefighting suit.

I know its a tall order but this would make a great minigame. Perhaps score for players/teams could be determined by number of fires put out or bricks saved. Points would be detracted for bricks damaged or destroyed.

If anyone wants to give this a try, I will make models for it. Just need a programmer.

I know that BLB files or whatever you call them cannot be made to move or be interactive without breaking the lag-free gimmick.

My request/suggestion is for a small set of animated or moving items which will add functionality to are otherwise non-interactive builds.

I mean things like doors that work just like they did in RTB and triggers that can do whatever they are programmed to do.

They may be laggy but in small, controlled numbers (server admin control?) they could add a lot to everyones builds.

Modification Help / Helicopter-needs script

Ok guys, I made a helicopter (which looks cool IMO) and it is animated. All it needs is some script to make it work.



Anyones free to take a shot at making it. Just please include my name in any credits for the vehicle.

Modification Help / How to make the rotors really rotate...really

Ok, the title was like that just as a joke but my question is serious.

If I model a helicopter, animate it so the rotors spin and make that animation cyclictic, would the blades spin automatically when I spawn the vehicle or do I need some custom code in the vehicle file for them to work?

If anyone could give the code, (should only be a few lines I suppose), I would be most appreciative.

Before you mention, Yes, I know there is already a lightsaber weapon available at this thread. http://www.blockland.us/smf/index.php?topic=15411.0

My suggestion is this.

Instead of making the blade as part of the model (as is the one mentioned above), why not just model the handle and have the 'light' bit be made of a single emitter? Similiar to the emitter of the laser it could come in different colors (red, blue, green) and I suppose you could model different handles.

Another bonus of my idea is that perhaps you could add in an on/off feature so the emitter could be disabled with a key press further adding to the realism.

Thats my idea. Any comments? Additions? Reasons why this wouldn't work?
