Dang, I wanted to respond to that because I actually looked it up...

It changes your ability to Mummy, as said. Mummy itself is basically just a virus which means your original ability no longer is there for the battle.

Mummy negates the victim's ability, and on hit changes that pokemon's ability to mummy for the battle. I believe if mummy is on a pokemon other than Yamask's and Cocigaretterigus' type, it weakens the attack power because in the elite 4, my smugleaf(yes i named it that) was very weak against it but had been doing half health on the first attack. Next was about 1/3 of their current health. So yeah
