Author Topic: Sims 2 Help?  (Read 2703 times)

Whenever I try loading Sims 2, it comes up with an error saying:
Unable to authenticate original disk within time limit. Try Again?

I googled it and it came up with something about SecuROM.

How can I get sims2 working again?

Are you on full admin privileges?

my first try would be to right click the game, then click "run as administrator" (even if you already are, sometimes Ive had to do this for a game)

Does your computer run DVDs?   Sims 2 doesn't run if your computer doesn't run DVDs.

Also, if your computer doesn't run DVDs, you should stop being a dumb@$$ and spend more than $200 on a computer.  (REALLY, it helped me.  I went from 2000 straight to vista! :D)

For a sec I thought you were a handicap, then I read what youu needed help with.

Vista sucks.

correct me if im wrong.. but isnt securom got to do with anti-pirating crap..

and the whole "Original Disk" thing sounds weird...

its a little late to be hating on vista. lol

- lots of the better video cards require vista now as the drivers for them are only available for vista.
- 64bit-xp is a waste as its a hackjob at being 64bit, not supported by microsoft and buggy at as hell for multi core processors.
*therefore if you want more then 3.4gigs of ram EVER, you HAVE to use 64bit vista. and 3.4 isn't very much memory anymore.

so let vista suck and be buggy.
better then the crap options otherwise

Oh no, you've become a victim of that stupid SecuRom.
It's on all Sim games since H&M was released.

I found it on SecuRom's site.

On this link, a person suggests taking out the game disc, try running the game from desktop, and then when it prompts you for the game disc put the the disc back in and see if it will run.

Securom can be taken off your computer if all it does is mess up your stuff

If I remember correctly just uninstalling the game won't remove Securom.

Some people have had success removing securom and then running the game on a no cd crack.

Did, didn't work.
