General Discussion / Bet on what day v9 will come out!
« on: December 27, 2007, 05:17:04 PM »
Basics: This is a contest to guess what day v9 will come out, you get one guess.  The prize is a  :cookie: (or something bigger if someone else choses to give it to you).  After you have made your guess you cannot change it.  Please be clear about your guess.....

Technical crap for complainers: Each person gets a total of one guess to say what day version nine of blockland will come out.  If the day that it came out on is any question for any reason, the date will be determined by date on the main blockland website (www.blockland.us) that is on the post announcing that version nine has been released.  If it comes out on a day that none guessed, the closest guess will be the winner.  If the date version nine came out on is equal distance from two potential winners, the latter date wins.  If a person posts their guess and a person had previously guessed it, the first person to have guessed it keeps their guess and the second may make another guess.

I will try to keep this post up to date with everyone who guesses, but I have no promises....

New rules because I don't want to waist my time with dumb answers"
1.The date you guess must be within six months after your posting time, and not before your posting time.
2.You may guess again one month after your guess has past.

Why not make a helecopter that does that first, since it is a much more wanted vehicle and sounds like it would do the same thing, and then use it's script to do the spaceship from Mario Galaxy. Also, the bottom would be a gray color always, and the top paintable, since if you didn't notice there is also a yellow one.... (I just got that game by the way, and it is really fun...)

Hmmmm......... This is a good idea.  It would be really good with a race mod.  And the mario kart.
What would be really cool is a question mark box that when you run over it, it gives you a random item....

And why not a fire mario hat, and the hammer, and the __, and the ___, and the ___.....

Sounds like a great idea, but I find it funny how a person recommends one thing, and everyone starts saying "add this too".

So who can make this happen?

Kaje. :cookieMonster:
Someone who can script and model...

Modification Help / Re: People love maps like this:
« on: December 27, 2007, 12:35:42 AM »
Look at the Corp. Office, it is very big, and doesn't lag.  It is so big that the fog covers any part of the building just about anywhere on the map, thats probably one reason it doesn't lag as you'd expect.  The trick would have to be no not let it be an open map, and make it seem like it is bigger then it really is.  The problem is that it takes a long time to download....

As for my favorites, I like terrain maps mostly.  Interior maps don't inspire as much creativity, and strictly define were you can reasonably build.  Flat maps are nice for builds, but there is nothing to work with map wise, and are more of like changing a template then giving new inspirations to build.

I like terrain maps the best.  I think it is a shame that the only default terrain map is the slopes.  What I really like about terrain maps is the ability to build in and around things.  I actually rather build something creative on a slope then something normal flat.  I also like the ability to build into the terrain, opposed to not allowing anything to intersect with pieces of the map.

I think the maps that really score are those that combine things well.  An example is ice pack.

As possible as players spamming now, starting a minigame with a giant brick respawn time and shooting there spam with the rocket launcher.  Both would work, but eventually they will respawn.

You'll have to change the name of the script file within the zip that executes the code...

Mapping Help / Re: Terrain Textures and skyboxes?
« on: December 21, 2007, 02:19:37 AM »
No, you have seen maps that give the illusion of no fog/ visible distance...

For your dictionary:
Visible distance: The physical distance you can see or detect objects, if it is out of this range, your computer ignores it...

Fog:The radding of objects given to make the Visible Distance less like a line and more like a natural occurring thing.

Having no fog is possible, but it just makes the visible distance stand out and look unpolished.  Having no limit to visible distance is impossible because it goes on forever, and therefor, your computer would take and infinite amount of time to render a single frame, what really happens is BL just crashes from an overload.

edit:Woops, sry for the bump, didn't check the topic date XD

Whats so wrong with that, he only posts when needs to, and when he doesn't need to, he simply just reads it (so I assume), besides, if he replied to allot of topics, he would lose some of that exulted stasis, and also get allot of people specifically asking for him with help and questions about RTB...

Not really, because during that time we get to play with the new wrench event system....

* Packer would laugh is RTB2 is compatible with V9
It would but wouldn't it be funny...
Considering that most, if not all, of the makers of RTB are beta testers for badspot, I don't see why it would work since they get to test it on the beta version, unless badspot changes anything that affects it, which would barely slow them down...

Zelda is cool (I am a die hard fan myself), but it shouldn't be incorporated into blockland because the gameplay and controls are completely different...
