there are much better things to spend tax money on than buying big expensive trucks for something minor that happens once every few years at most
missing a day of school is not that bad

To add onto this: This only happens once every 10-20 years. Its hardly often enough to constantly fund it.

That's not very unrealistic; That happens where I live, just on a smaller scale (maybe 2-3 feet? depends on how much it snows)

Note that their are no lumpy piles along the sides, and the snow drifts would cave in on the road in realistic terms.
