is the lead instrument a saxophone or an electric guitar?
consider that the same artist made drums sound like a cello.

Sounds like some very odd electric guitar playing, or edited shredding on a electric guitar

It could also be a keytar now that i think about it, since the notes are played so strangely, or even maybe a synth pad?

Sounds like a terribly distorted electric guitar.

why do people think its an electric guitar? it clearly sounds like a saxophone

It's a very post-processed saxophone. Distorted guitar could not possibly produce the kind of overtones and harmonics that this sound is making.

the opening riff sounds like a guitar but the trills or whatever that come later sound like a sax
