Games / Roblox under fire for exploiting kids
« on: December 18, 2021, 11:55:48 PM »
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTMF6xEiAaY

I know a lot of you guys like Roblox and have some good memories of it in the past (like I have), but I found this video recently and it just made me think to one of Badspot's many rants about how he should've made Blockland some sort of subscription based game so he could make money off handicaps forever lol.

Anyway what are your guys' thoughts about this whole controversy?

Nowadays, the age of LAN parties is essentially over. Sure, it can be fun to get your friends and their computers together to play some games, now that Internet speeds are fast enough and programs like Discord allow for easy voice chat, allowing for the experience to more or less be available over the Internet.

However, Blockland is a pretty old game, and it was around when LAN parties were still a thing. Of course most games were played over the Internet, but there's an option to only host your server over the LAN. Since playing over LAN bypassed the authentication, it meant that you could have a separate LAN name and anyone who played on your server would automatically have full trust with each other. It also meant that you only needed one Blockland key to host the server, the rest of the players could simply use the demo, whereas by connecting they would be freed of the brick limit and lack of add-ons and such.

I'm just wondering, about how often was this mode used? Unfortunately for me I never really got a chance to play on a LAN server other than just experimenting with it on my own, I was too young and my parents probably would not have liked it if I brought the family computer to someone's house. However, for the rest of you, how many of you got a use out of the LAN mode? Did anyone introduce the game to someone else through a LAN server? Heck, has anybody ever hosted/been to a LAN party where you guys played Blockland? I'm curious.

After Twitter decided to fact check one of Annoying Orange's tweets, he went out and signed this executive order.

What does everyone think of this? Good, bad? Was it rushed? Is it actually enforceable?

General Discussion / Anyone got a game mode for me to host?
« on: May 23, 2020, 02:11:32 PM »
Right now I have a ubuntu box that is running basically 24/7 and I have already set it up to run Blockland servers.
Any ideas on what game mode I should host? Right now I'm running Unlimited Mining but it seems that someone else is too. I guess I can stay on that for now but if anyone has a link to a gamemode that is still downloadable and would like to see it hosted, I could do it.

Help / Hosting a server on headless Linux?
« on: May 20, 2020, 06:43:04 PM »
I got an old desktop from a friend and installed Ubuntu server on it for stuffs and giggles. Works great as a Minecraft server, but now I'm wondering if it would be possible to host a Blockland game on it.
I know it's not as simple as installing the program and running it because it's a Windows program, but I remember seeing some guys were able to get it working with Wine. Just wondering, anyone else have any experience with this? I'm interested in messing around and getting a DM or Freebuild up or something.

You can't even call it "fake news" because it isn't even a news article, it's a release directly from the Department of Justice.

edit: almost forgot the reddit thread, they are digging up some pretty interesting stuff

As you can see here: http://badspot.us/Blockland.html
there's a section on the page where Badspot talks a bit about the original retail version of Blockland's development, and how he demoed it for executives at LEGO... except it ends abruptly. He posted a comment saying that he wasn't finished typing up the thing, and hit the submit button by accident. It's been a few years and it hasn't been finished yet.

Honestly, I am very interested in the development of Blockland and it's history with LEGO, and it's a bit of a tease to have only the opening of this section completed. I would very much like it to be finished.

Badspot, mind finishing it up?

Games / So wtf was Age of Time?
« on: July 10, 2018, 03:07:41 PM »
Not much is really known about Badspot's older game Age of Time, I can barely find any info on it.

All I know about Age of Time is that it was some sort of online RPG where everyone played uncanny looking ladies with oversized breasts and it was made in the torque engine, and that it inspired Blockland's creation somehow.

Adding to the mystery is this screenshot that was posted in the SMF Login vulnerability thread:

wtf was age of time???

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/nathan-larson-congressional-candidate-child enthusiast_us_5b10916de4b0d5e 89e1e4824

Nathan Larson, a 37-year-old accountant from Charlottesville, Virginia, is running for Congress as an independent candidate in his native state. He is also a child enthusiast, as he admitted to HuffPost on Thursday, who has bragged in website posts about raping his late ex-wife.

In a phone call, Larson confirmed that he created the now-defunct websites suiped.org and incelocalypse.today ― chat rooms that served as gathering places for child enthusiasts and violence-minded misogynists like himself. HuffPost contacted Larson after confirming that his campaign website shared an IP address with these forums, among others. His sites were terminated by their domain host on Tuesday.

On the phone, he was open about his child enthusiasm and seemingly unfazed about his long odds of attaining government office.

“A lot of people are tired of political correctness and being constrained by it,” he said. “People prefer when there’s an outsider who doesn’t have anything to lose and is willing to say what’s on a lot of people’s minds.”

When asked whether he’s a child enthusiast or just writes about child enthusiasm, he said, “It’s a mix of both. When people go over the top there’s a grain of truth to what they say.”

Asked whether there was a “grain of truth” in his essay about father-daughter incest and another about raping his ex-wife repeatedly, he said yes, offering that plenty of women have rape fantasies.

Quote
According to Larson’s campaign manifesto, his platform as a “quasi-neoreactionary libertarian” candidate includes protecting gun ownership rights, establishing free trade and protecting “benevolent white supremacy,” as well as legalizing incestuous marriage and child research.

In the manifesto, Larson called national socialist leader Adolf Riddler a “white supremacist hero.” He urged Congress to repeal the Violence Against Women Act, adding, “We need to switch to a system that classifies women as property, initially of their fathers and later of their husbands.” He also showed sympathy for men who identify as involuntary celibates, or incels, suggesting it is unfair that they “are forced to pay taxes for schools, welfare, and other support for other men’s children.”

Using the pseudonyms Leucosticte and Lysander, Larson frequently participated in conversations on his own message boards, he confirmed to HuffPost.

Quote
As Lysander on suiped.org, a forum for “suicidal child enthusiasts,” Larson wrote numerous posts endorsing child rape and other forms of loveual abuse.

“Why doesn’t every creep just focus on making money so they can get a creep-wife and then either impregnate her with some forgettoys or adopt some forgettoys?” he wrote on the platform in October. “That would accommodate both those who are and aren’t into incest. And of course, the adoption process lets you pick a boy or a girl.”

Larson has a 3-year-old daughter who lives with relatives. He told HuffPost that he relinquished his parental rights during a custody battle. His ex-wife got a court-ordered restraining order against him in 2015 before she died by Self Delete. He has since remarried, he says, and is now living in Catlett, Virginia.

Larson used the moniker “Leucosticte” on incelocalypse.today ― a forum for incels who are child enthusiasts that was removed this week after the website Babe contacted the domain host. There, he identified as a “hebephilic rapist,” noting that he’s not a typical incel because he’d had love by raping his ex-wife.

According to the site, which HuffPost viewed before it was taken down, “incelocalypse” refers to “the day we make the jailbaits our rape-slaves.” (The term “jailbait” is slang for a person who is under the legal age of consent for love.)

Quote
HuffPost did not view any posts explicitly stating that he has engaged in loveual activity with minors, although he repeatedly expressed a desire to have love with infants and children, including his own daughter. In the phone call, Larson said that the word “child enthusiast” is “vague” and “just a label,” adding that it’s “normal” for men to be attracted to underage women. He said he did not commit any crimes.

In a 3,300-word essay on incelocalypse.today, titled “Here’s How to Psyche Yourself Up to Feel Entitled to Rape,” Larson tells other members: “Don’t forget: feminism is the problem, and rape is the solution.” On the platform, he also advocated for father-daughter marriage, killing women and raping virgins.

Larson is less worried about his run for Congress than about his sites coming down. He told HuffPost that the termination of his websites is an affront to his freedom of speech and that he’s going to try to get them hosted elsewhere. Not that it’ll matter ― there are still plenty of forums where incels and other such communities can congregate. The removal of Larson’s sites caused an uproar on incels.me, a separate, much larger forum for incels.

Larson’s political ambitions span more than a decade. He first ran for Congress in Virginia’s 1st District in 2008 on what he described as an “anarcho-capitalist” platform. That same year, he sent a letter to the Secret Service threatening to kill the president, which landed him in federal prison for 14 months and barred him from seeking public office.

But in 2016, then-Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) restored voting and other civil rights to thousands of felons, allowing Larson to campaign yet again. In 2017 he ran in Virginia’s House of Delegates District 31 and secured less than 2 percent of the vote. Now he is gunning for a seat in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District.

Quote
Until it was pulled down, Larson’s site Nathania.org, a wiki page with details about his latest candidacy, featured posts titled “A Man Should Be Allowed to Choke His Wife to Death as Punishment for Cutting Her Hair Short Without Permission, or Other Acts of Gross Insubordination,” “Advantages of Father-Daughter Incest” and “The Justifiability of an Incel’s Kidnapping a Girl and Keeping Her as His Rape-Slave for love and Babymaking.” Wiki pages can be edited by other people, but Larson confirmed he wrote these posts as well as several other disturbing entries.

In “Let’s Define What Rape Is,” a 3,000-word essay posted on Nathania.org as well as other incel sites, Larson wrote: “Women are objects, to be taken care of by men like any other property, and for powerful men to insert themselves into as it pleases them, and as they believe will be in women’s own interests. In most cases, their interests are aligned, as long as the man is strong. Female love-slaves actually get a much better deal than animals, because in most cases, they are allowed to reproduce, unlike animals raised for meat or companionship.”

When asked what his constituents would think about his child enthusiasmc writings, he said, “People are open-minded.”

He continued, “A lot of people who disagreed with someone like Annoying Orange … might vote for them anyway just because the establishment doesn’t like them.”

What do you guys think? Seems like an average Blockland Forums user to me.

Off Topic / Are there any discord servers left?
« on: February 17, 2018, 12:06:49 PM »
I remember like a year or two ago when discord first came out there were 15 million blf discords to choose from and I joined one and didn't participate and got removed about a week later.

Now I don't see any topics for any discord servers anymore. And I wanna actually join and participate in one now...

Are there any left? Any that would let met in? Or should I, dare I say it, make my own?

Games / What game should I get?
« on: October 26, 2017, 06:16:56 PM »
Recommend me some games, blf. I don't care what genre, as long as you think it's good and is on steam.

I have zero ideas on what to play, there's just so much out there. What's something you played recently that you thought was good?
