firstly, who would run and create it? additionally who would the admins be?
if you have someone who has a trash tier reputation or personality make it or administrate it, then nobody will want to join because they'll know it'll be drama city in there.
this is the reason why we have so many servers, we have no loving idea who should be the
glorious god emperor server admin and everyone believes that they should be it.
if you have a stuffty admin who only makes their friends moderators, then you're gonna have a circlejerk starting between those friends which isn't good for the normal people in that server; if you have someone who acts nice at the start but turns out to be a huge prick who deletes posts and bans people for no reason, drama is gonna start like wildfire; you need someone who is absolutely neutral and sticks by the rules, and the only person who matches that criteria from what i've seen is badspot (gl asking him to make the discord server btw).
secondly, how would you get the ball rolling and encourage people to join, stay, and consider it the official server?
once again, a lot of competition here because everybody wants to be the person who runs the official fan server for blockland; and with a lot of servers claiming to the be the official one, people are gonna get confused and have to stick in multiple or none.
if you cannot get people to join then it's gonna be empty, it'll be seen as a dead server to people outside of the server and they'll likely just skip it.
finally;
huge server discords are already insufferable enough why would you want to join a main blockland one when half of this community is handicapped
because we suck
both of these sum up my opinion; huge servers loving suck on discord because you have hundreds of people trying to be heard and the people moderating that lose the will to live after 3 days of doing their job. also our community cannot stop fighting over petty things such as who gets the last piece of candy, so essentially double the amount of work for moderators.
just stick with the forums; everything is nicely organised and everyone basically gets a say on things without being drowned out by spam.
