Afghanistan?
It's not a war. Plus it's mostly NATO forces now.

The 7.62 x 39 is supposed to be an intermediate round anyway
just a really big intermediate round

Dat recoil
that's a PKM though. what about the G3, PKP Pecheneg, or Scar-H?

what are you insisting
the gun had high recoil firing in bursts
and how would the pkp pecheneg differ though lol it fires the same round
plus the scar and g3 are battle rifles

Those fire 7.62x51mm(also known as .308 winchestor). I made the mistake of calling the .308 7.62x54 on Yuki's firearms revival thread.

These fire 7.62x54mm however

.308 still has quite a bit of recoil...

i don't think the 7.62 x 51mm NATO and the 7.62 x 54mmR are really ballistically different, but not a guns expert.

gun weight, buffer tube, stock, flash hider and many other variables contribute to how recoil is received, not just caliber

the main purpose of body armor was to stop shrapnel, as shrapnel from ricocheting bullets and explosions are the number one source of casualties among soldiers. the fact it can stop bullets only later took precedence.

recoil also depends on the type of ammunition you're firing. a lot of recoil depends on how much powder is in the load.

From what I remember the heavy the easier it to control. Meaning you can fire a longer burst on a BAR with more control than a FN FAL.

100% A++++
