Creativity / Situational Comedy (not seen on TV)
« on: June 02, 2009, 08:25:31 PM »

What I mean by Sit-com is:

Perhaps you've seen some of my drawings recently?

Well they were both inspired by something a forumer said.

Dig a mote and get dinosaurs to swim in it.

I pray that you can deflect the flames of anime-haters.

Well I had this wacky idea that I'd draw more situations like this, i.e "sit-com".

So the next time you say something funny, or someone else says something funny, or perhaps you have something funny in mind already, come post the quote here, and I'll visually represent it in art.

This should mean some laughs. :D

Ha ha ha.
Ha ha ha.

Drawings done for others:

I am confused and aroused.

Along with this, it's iPod, not I-pod you carrot.

Swholli finally got some poon from his girlfriend and those two lovers just can't stop.

Supposed reason for slacking off.

Actual reason:

Some day, you will find someone you love. Only to find out that s/he was a cow. WHY did you have to sleep with her?

Creativity / Cadaver
« on: May 17, 2009, 10:29:04 PM »
After my failed attempt at Doorman (though I still really like the cover, may finish it):

I had come up with some other ideas for super heroes and what not, but was to no avail. It had original drawn some concept art for a character:

But never got around to developing anything for him. Well ho ho.

Almost a year later, about a few days ago, I came to the Worm with an idea for a character in a comic book series. I hadn't came up with a name yet, but I had a full working story (or at least, a semi-full working). It went something like this:

A man is killed in a motorcycle accident after hitting a truck owned by the Mayor's research facility (the mayor also doubles as a scientist, so bare with me). The mayor had recently replaced the police force's usual uniforms with a highly advanced super suit which gave them incredible speed and power. The only problem was, they were still vulnerable and the suit itself was very heavy so they couldn't run very well in it.

Now, seeing as the mayor doesn't want to report an accident (he's a very corrupt guy) he instead issues the dead body into his new super solider program. It's a program designed to create the perfect cop. Using a high powered steroid through a surgically implanted injector, located in his spinal cord, the man is brought back to life and is constantly being pumped adrenaline into his system, giving him superhuman abilities.

He's been designed a jet black suit similar to those worn by the police, except thinner, and more agile. The suit was titled "Super Suit Project: X" hence the red X on his chest. He's trained in martial arts and gun fight. Not to mention swordplay, as he has two concentrated plasma beams mounted on each fist.

However, soon realizing that the mayor is corrupt and wants to turn every person he finds in the morgue, or not, into these super human monsters (as he later realizes what exactly it is he's become), he escapes and vows to stop the mayor and his twisted ways, as well as clean up his beloved city of crime. He may not do it the legal way, but he gets the job done.

After escaping the mayor's prison, he sees how he needs a name. So calling on a favorite story as a child, the mighty knight (fictional of coarse) known as "The Knight Cadaver" who used a skull as his symbol. As well as embracing the hard truth that he died, and all of his family has forgotten about him and moved on, he too takes the skull as his face, dawns a cape, and christens himself: Cadaver.

(Which means corpse, by the way)

Now he sets out on a quest to stop the mayor, organized crime, petty thugs, street gangs, and eventually super villains, in this twisted, dark, militarized version of New York.

I do apologize for the crudeness of this cover, but it was my first attempt at colorizing a scanned image in photoshop:

As you can see the character's design has changed a little.

So now lastly, I ask: is this something you'd read? Because if it is, The Worm and I may consider producing these. I've always been obsessed with comics and drawing, so to me this would be a lot of fun. Let me know what you think, feel free to be as brutally honest as you want.

Off Topic / Obama, the attention war
« on: May 12, 2009, 10:06:50 PM »
People are having a frenzy over this Obama character.

I mean what's with this guy?

First of all, I'm an independent, and recently a Quaker. And I really do try to see both sides of the issue here.

Now I call it an attention war because, like it was last time, we have the two split media's, one conservative the other democrat, spouting negative or positive traits about the current administration. Last year it was the liberal media, this year the conservative media is having a ball.

Regardless, as if you can't tell already the country is completely ran on media. We form our opinions solely on media. No research, just media.

So here we have this guy Maximum, making a total ass of himself in my Star Trek topic, for as we later found because he was a total Fox News junkie. Well I figure, if he has a topic about Obama, why not me.

I'm retaliating. I'm going to get that little twerp to agree to some form of logic, even if it kills me. And hey, the last thread died, and quite frankly I like talking politics. And even if you're not American, feel free to join in. I myself don't have a political talk radio program, so this forum is the next best thing. Lets debate, are you republican? Democrat? Do you like or dislike the administration? What are your thoughts about the issues?

So bring it on Maximum, bring it on.

Drama / The Politics Thread

holy crap. make a drama topic already

Oh my god you pansy little bitch.

Why the hell is every republican using this mindset? "Once Obama screws up they'll all come back to the republicans" Blah blah blah.

You know what, you're what makes this country suck. You had your chance with Bush, and look how well he forgeted things up. Obama hasn't even been in for a year and you're already jumping the gun.

Need I remind you that Nixon was a Republican? Nixon, the man who committed the biggest scandal in U.S. History? Considering he spied on the other party to cheat the election? The one thing we as a country fight for? And then he lied to the public about it? You say that you want Obama to screw up so we can just run back to a republican. And then people will say the same thing and want to run back to a Deomocrat.

Hey, here's an idea:

Suck it up that you lost the election, and support your leader. And maybe, just maybe we'll fix something rather than waiting for the other party to do it. You're an ass for thinking like this, and all the Republicans are asses as well. And so are the Democrats because they did the same stuff when Bush was in office. Then when they won the congressional majority they wouldn't let him do anything! My god!

Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison all wrote in their farewell addresses to STAY AWAY from parties. And what did we do? Durp dee durp dee durr.

Seeing as my Star Trek thread got so derailed, here's a new thread to continue our debate where it left off. To see the rest of it visit pages 2-5 in this topic: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=68087.0

Star Trek Review

Yes! I gave this movie a full five stars. Consider me biased as a nerd of my standards, but as films go, I've seen a lot of bad movies, so I can fully say that in a sea of bad films being made today, this one shines as a gem of hope for better motion picture entertainment. Now if Terminator lives up to it's expectations, I might be willing to believe in Hollywood again to take my mind off of things. I mean after all, movies became a great escape during the 20's and 30's and seeing as the economy is similar to those times, this is probably a good thing.

On to the review...

Wow. Just wow. There isn't much bad I can say about this new movie. J.J. Abrams outdid himself with a great reboot to the series with this new movie simply titled: Star Trek. The film isn't shaky and confusing like Cloverfield, and won't have you LOST with the plot (by the third season :D) like some of his other works.

Although this movie is the tenth of its kind, the story is set before the television series that first made it famous in 1966.

James T. Kirk is seen for the first time as a young man, and his misadventures involved in becoming the captain he's known for today. However, it throws in it's own little twists.

I won't spoil anything for you. I promise.

UPS:
What's great about this movie is the humor. It captures the true essence of what Star Trek used to be, and that was the great characters. From Bones' catch phrase: "God damned" to Scottie's: "She can't take much more of this captain, I'm given it all she's got" the whole movie just makes you laugh, but in the way it's supposed to. All of the iconic aspects of a good Star Trek movie are there, but also just the aspects of a good movie. The story is well done and you don't have to be a Treky just to get it.

DOWNS:
The only down side I can see to this movie was it was amazing, but it wasn't a movie that made me stand up and cheer. Leonard Nimoy himself said he cried during some scenes, reminiscing of the good times had on the Star Trek set as well as with friend DeForest Kelley (played Dr. "Bones" McCoy) who died in 1999. I myself, as a long time Star Trek fan, expected that the same sense of nostalgia would possible bring perhaps a tear to my eye. I may not have been born in 1966, but Star Trek was my childhood too, sadly, the movie didn't do it for me. Other than the fact it doesn't make you cry, this was defiantly a great film and I would advise anyone, fan of the series or not, to go see it.

All in all, it was an amazing reboot in the franchise and I plan on seeing any of the sequels it may spur, as well as what I was hoping a new TV series. I think seeing Star Trek on TV again, with the original crew just played by younger actors, would be awesome.

And with this, I end my review of Star Trek saying:

It was better than Nemesis. That's all it had to accomplish to be good. :D

Now I can legally operate a speeding metal death trap, assuming someone over the age of 21 is there to die along side me.

Also, I'm not 220. I weigh 205 at the most. Bitch got my weight wrong.

Also I'm an organ donor. :D

Periodic Table of Blockland

How it works:
    -Download my image
    -Choose a square
-Edit it. It must include an Atomic number (if you don't know what the real element's number is use wikipedia or some other source), a one to two letter symbol (Capital, lowercase) to describe your name, and last your actual name.
-The number must be 19 px font size, and the symbol 37 px. All in Arial font. Try to center it best you can.
    - Resubmit the image in a post and I'll update the table.

I figured this could be a fun idea, all you science geeks might agree. I didn't include Lanthanoids or Actinoids for now. If we run out of space they will be used.

I called Hydrogen because I'm number 1! :D

Apparently in March we're all supposed to turn off all our power for an hour all over the world. While I admit it's an ok idea, who's really going to do it? I mean, who from a place like here is really going to do it.

Discuss Earth Hour. Good idea or no?
