Question about pirating

Sorry if it dosn't mean that.

so, lets say i owned, The first sims, just the Plain Sims, "The Sims"
The disk breaks in half, or a scratch is soo bad, it cant run.
Would it be legal to pirate it, as for I already bought it?
Kind of Like with roms, I own the NES, and the Game, I can get the rom.
Can I? I would like to replay The Sims for stuffs. :D

If you own the original copy.
It is completely legal to own a backup.

Torrents are legal.

Pirating is a act like stealing.
Taking something you don't own.

According to the law, if you had your original broken.
And you purchased it to begin with.
You are allowed to make a backup.
