The Story of the Earthen Realm
___________________________________
The Four Guardians
_____________________
Over a thousand years ago, the Naryu Empire was the primary ruling power in the world. By drawing upon the power of the mystical Soulstones from deep underground, they were able to create technological wonders that surpassed all others. However, all that is in the past. Today, all that is left of them are half forgotten ruins and broken machines. In their ignorance and hubris, the Naryu mined the Soulstones in such excess that they disorted the very spirit of the continent and opened a bridge between the Earthen Realm and the Dark Realm. As Dark Chi seeped into the world, it began poisoning the world and demons began terrorizing the populace. As this occurred, the empire fell.
However, the beings of the Divine Realm were watching and were not content to watch the mortals suffer at the hands of the demons of the Dark Realm that fought to open a permanent bridge between the worlds. Four powerful martial artists were chosen to fight against the darkness: Mushin, the Divine Fist; Jiwan, the Righteous Blade; Iksanun, the Realmwalker; and Hong Sokgyun, the Earthbreaker. They were known as the Four Guardians and were aided by a powerful sword called Twilight's Edge. This was a weapon that was said to be able to change its form to suit whomever wielded it, and full of mystical power that could drive back the darkness. Armed with this sword, the Four Guardians were able to face the demons that were threatening the Earthen Ream.
However, the demons attempted to summon their master, the Dark Lord, through a Dark Gate so that his power could overwhelm the world. Mushin, in a moment of desperation, sacrificed his life and leapt into the Dark Gate in order to seal it from within. Even though the other Guardians were able to defeat the remaining demons in the resulting battle, it was too late. The Dark Chi had infested the world and could only be held at bay and not stopped completely.

The Stratus Empire
_____________________
As time went on, the Four Guardians passed into legend and the Stratus Empire came into power in the Southern Continent. The Northern, Eastern, and Western Continents were each ruled by one of the emperor's sons, while he remained on the throne of the Southern Continent. By his side was Prince Wan, his youngest son, who was learning the ways of leadership and royalty. However, one day the emperor met his untimely demise that forced Prince Wan to take the throne and rule. However, the empire was thrown into chaos as Prince Wan's older brothers sought to overthrow their youngest sibling in a fit of jealously in order to claim the throne.
The toxic environment caused by the unrest allowed the Dark Chi to grow in power once again, slowly seeping in the hearts of men as they turned on one another. In addition, a terrible incident befell the Eastern Continent 30 years ago when the capital city, Highland Central, was invaded by demons that threatened to open another Dark Gate. Prince Sobu, and his sister, Princess Solaan, were tragically killed as the demons overran the city. The remaining Guardians rose again and brought the help of the Sacred Beasts. The energy of the Divine Realm had sustained them throughout the centuries, and they were able to seal the dark forces once more.
In the aftermath, the weakened and disorganized Stratus Empire was unable to control its army and Yunma Kahn defected from the empire to found the Talus Dominion in the Eastern Continent. The two kingdoms remain enemies as they struggle to gain power and control over the world.

PRESENT TIME
_____________________
Today, the world is full of chaos as warring factions bicker over territory and resources and clans exploit the populace. However, martial artists have grown in number to defend the weak and stand up for the people, such as the Eight Masters. The Guardians have disappeared - Jiwan had been slain by Jinsoyun, Hong Sokgyun had struck down Jinsoyun, and Iksanun was badly wounded in battle and retreated from the world.
In this new world, Dark Chi has once again began to poison the world and new heroes are needed to stand up against the demons.

Viridian Coast
There is little that can compare to the serene Viridian Coast. From the sandy beaches outside of picturesque Bamboo Village, to the eerie depths of the Gloomdross Forest where phantoms play, to the towering coastal cliffs of Songshu Isle.
The Viridian Coast lives up to its name with its lush green plains, cool bamboo forests, and valleys where fragments of the earth float into the sky to dizzying heights. It is home to Jadestone Village, a bustling lakeside community where business thrives in the region, and the prestigious Hongmoon School tucked away in Heaven’s Reach beyond the shore. But for all its peaceful beauty, there’s always the looming threat of the devious Blackram Marauders waiting to strike at the unsuspecting coastal towns, or the restless spirits haunting the Gloomdross Forest.

Cinderlands
The mainland was once the proud heart of civilization, where the mighty Naryu Empire stood uncontested for centuries. The Naryu Empire became a battleground to hold back the invading demons from the Dark Realm, and was blighted during the Four Guardian’s fight against the great corrupted energy. Deep forests and surging rivers dried up, leaving a vast wasteland where only the strong and stubborn can possibly survive. Yet in every endless desert there always lies an oasis. Yehara’s Mirage is the hub of all activity in the region, welcoming travelers in from near and far to experience a bit of luxury amid desolation with its fine dining and strong drinks.
Away from the Scorching Sands, the bestial Jaofang Village rests safe in its valley, while not far beyond is the Blindeye Bazaar where shady dealings of a less savory crowd operate outside the law. There are even rumors of the tomb of Mushin himself buried somewhere amid the ruins of the Naryu Empire, where a treasure beyond all imagination waits to be claimed. That is, if daring adventurers could first survive the vicious Bonemask Tribe warriors, the giant scorpions, and the bands of tomb raiders along the way.

Moonwater Plains
After surviving the desolate heat of the Cinderlands, a bit of water is a relief! The Moonwater Plains has a surplus of mighty rivers, crashing waterfalls, and vast lakes as clear as a cloudless sky. The sprawling Lycandi Foothills are home to the native people of the region who live side-by-side with the Lyn of Brightstone Village and the farming community of Hogshead Pastures. The glorious Sapphire Basin is home to many curious species such as the frog-like Ploggles and the brutish Hoglin.
But a shadow always lurks nearby: The Haunted Necropolis, stained by corrupted energy some 30 years past, is where a demonic outbreak is endlessly held back by the brave Snapjaw Tribe. As the Eastern Continent is also territory of the Talus Empire, one must always be wary of the outbreak of violence where the Talus Army clashes with the rebellious Skyhaven Resistance.

Silverfrost Mountains
Further north are the Skypetal Plains: gorgeous fields of swaying grass and fragrant wildflowers caressed by the ocean winds. It is home to Zaiwei, capital city of the Talus Dominion, standing as a beacon of wealth and power among nature’s bounty. But it is a city endlessly challenged by the thieving Lumang Syndicate, the corrupt Hao Society, and a bevy of powerful monsters who call Skypetal Plains their home.
Beyond the city awaits frozen mountains full of treacherous heights, blistering snowstorms, and ancient temples of long-slumbering gods waiting to awaken once more. But for all the mystery and intrigue the region has to offer, it is the grand capital city itself that holds the darkest secrets.

Classes
_____________________
Assassin| As its name implies, the Assassins excel at deception and lethal combat. Their weapon of choice is the short sword or dagger, but a true assassin is never without an arsenal. Armed with a multitude of explosives and traps, these precise and agile fighters can either kill quickly or escape a dire situation. The Assassin also masters the element of surprise, immediately taking control of a battle before the opponent even knows it had begun by deftly slipping in and out of the shadows. However, Assassins do not simply ignore their allies. Skills drenched in the art of subterfuge allow an Assassin to protect as well as destroy. |
Blade Dancer| Blade Dancer is a class exclusive to the Lyns. Although small, Lyns utilize swift precise movements to nimbly attack their opponents. This is another sword wielding class that utilize swords to deliver powerful melee attacks, summoned swords for defense and ranged attacks, and force choke to immobilize opponents. It is a well rounded class that can tank, dps, and support. They are relatively easy to level, thanks to their massive collection of AoE skills, and relatively easy to control. |
Blade Master| The Blade Master (not to be confused with Blade Dancer) is a "Warrior" class that specializes in sword combat to deliver a variety of attacks. Blade Masters do not have high static defense but are good at parrying and evading their enemies' blows then following up with counter attacks. Blade Master can also go on the offensive with "Batto Jutsu" stance to inflict heavy blows. Against enemies from far away, Blade Master can use Flying Sword techniques that will harm their enemies from afar. |
Destroyer| The Destroyers' power comes from their immense physical strength. They wield large axes to deliver fatal blows to their enemy targets. They also enjoy taking advantage of their winning situations, grabbing enemy corpses and tossing them at other foes. Destroyers have great defence, which makes dealing with melee attackers and multiple enemies at once much easier for them. Destroyer bodies were trained to withstand even the harshest attack; they often become the strong root of their allies.
Destroyers are the classic short distance, slow, and heavy hitting tank-fighters. Almost all of their skills are offensive and contain splash damage. With such a powerful and gargantuan weapons, the Destroyers excel at fighting multiple mobs at once, while their grabbing capabilities allow them to leave victims vulnerable to everyone else |
Force Master| Force Masters use their inner Chi to deliver a variety of devastating blows to their enemies. They accomplish such casting using the Ki-Gong-Pae, a Chi bracelet they wear around their wrist. They can shoot off many different forms of abilities, ranging from fire explosions to chi leeching techniques that deliver unavoidable attacks and grabs. Force Masters are the masters of control, and they can apply movement impairing effects to multiple enemies, allowing them to take on more than one foe at a time.
Force Masters play quite differently from the other classes in Blade & Soul. They are similar to the wizards and magi of traditional RPGs which have powerful elemental attacks from a distance. Force Masters' systematic combos don't chain very high like the other classes. Their skills are fairly simple, which places them in the "easy to control" group of classes. However, keep in mind that their lack of defense and low hit points make up for their ease of control. |
Kung-Fu Masters| Kung-Fu Masters utilize their own fists and feet to defeat their enemies. Most of the Kung-Fu Master's attacks are delivered in combos for fast and very effective melee ranged blows. With such quick reflexes, Kung-Fu Masters can attack and defend with ease, able to react to even the most dire situation as quickly as possible. They have absolutely no problem taking the advantage over their enemies during battle with such speed. Their defense and offense abilities are very fluid like water. With a variety of combos, it really takes a lot of practice to use them efficiently.
Kung-Fu Masters have a defensive stance for more survivability. While using this defensive stance, they can still attack fairly quickly. They can also take advantage of their enemies' weaknesses to quickly sustain them or to deliver deadly combo attacks. |
Summoner| The Summoner is a versatile class, and is best described as a "jack-of-all-trades, but master-of-none." They are able to summon an Ally for attacking their emenys or even heal th summoner as well as their party members. |
Warlock|The Warlock (Shaman) class is designed for mid-range combat, as they use talismans that they infuse with magic to use as projectiles, spells, or summoning, the Warlocks also have binding abilities which surround enemies and do damage in pulses. There are also some abilities that are reminiscent of lightning.
The final main feature of the Warlock class is that they are able to summon apparitions that will deal most of the physical damage for a Warlock, and serve as a distraction to the bosses and mobs, thus minimizing damage to the Warlock or teammates. |
