Had this same problem.
Some program I had forced me to download a Babylon search engine and it came with a stuff load of crap-ons for Google Chrome. I wasn't able to delete them or disable them so I just re-installed Google Chrome and it fixed everything. Now all I have is Skype Toolbar and Adblock. :)

nothing "forces" you to do so unless it's malware.

on most things even if you uncheck everything and click next it will still install it, so always look for a "decline" button. if there isn't one then unchecking everything will do just fine.
