Author Topic: Impossible...  (Read 3104 times)

Okay, I think this can be explained somehow, but I don't remember how.

Imagine two persons: one inside a train, and one outside of the train.
The train moves at 30 mph, the person inside the train walks at 5 mph.
From the other persons point of view, the person inside the train is moving at 35 mph.

Now imagine a spaceship moving at 0.6C (60% of the speed of light). Another spaceship is heading the opposite direction at 0.6C. From both spaceships point of views, the other spaceship is moving away from them at 1.2C. That means that the spaceships (seem to) move faster than light.

I ate my mouth just now

I ate my mouth just now

That's possible, your stomach is what 'eats' things.

Problem?

What's black and white and red all over?

That's possible, your stomach is what 'eats' things.

Problem?

No your stomach 'digests' things your mouth 'consumes' things or better known as 'eating'

What's black and white and red all over?
Something in a blender?

That's why when you walk on an escalator, as soon as you exit it, you're almost running, to keep up with the speed you gained relative to the floor.
That's why we launch rockets in florida and not in antarctica. Someone standing on the equator moves faster than someone standing in Paris compared to the earth's core. So that's less power/speed you need to get into orbit or even escape the earth's gravity.

Okay, this one isn't "impossible", but a mind-twister:

The age of the universe is roughly 14 billion years.
The size of the observable universe is 46 billion lightyears.

That means that, if the universe has a continueous spacetime, the expansion of the universe must have been at more than 3 times the speed of light.

Indeed it does according to many. Problem physics?

They would think words
