Off Topic / I got a free ipod.
« on: July 12, 2010, 10:12:39 PM »
i've had an ipod touch 2nd gen 32gb for probably a year and a half. i use it all day everyday. this morning it wouldn't turn on so i went to the apple store tonight.
my warranty expired 6 months ago, but i walked out with a  brand new 3rd gen touch. for free.

i guess apple wanted my ipod for troubleshooting and research. maybe i shoulda bartered with them a little.

o and i got pulled over today because of some registration errors and instead of a 321 dollar ticket i got a warning cuz the cop was out of tickets.

by golly.

Suggestions & Requests / Save wand, and other save /load features.
« on: October 26, 2009, 02:42:00 AM »
There was a topic about sort of the same thing, but from 2007.

I think it'd be a neat feature to have a "save wand". It would select bricks the same way the duplicator wand does, except that you could continue adding to the selection. An example of this: Click a baseplate to select all the bricks on it, they turn invisible like when selecting with the duplicator, then you can go and hit a different baseplate and have it added to the selection. There would need to be a way to clear your selection, maybe click the ground or dropping the item.

After you have made your selection you can save from the menu (a save selected bricks only check box maybe?).

Also, on a related note:
As far as i know, there is no way to change where on the map bricks load. I agree with this, as it is a nice thing to rely on.
However, if I'm loading a small build on a map(slate) that already has builds scattered around, I have no idea where it will load. Also, moving to bedroom/nonflat maps to slate edits or vice-a-versa you can run into problems with your build loading correctly or accessibly. While this is a minor inconvenience, what if when loading you could move around a ghost of all the bricks that touch the ground (as one ghost)? You then could force the build to load where you needed it to. This feature could be selected from the load menu with a check box.

Obviously this load feature would not be practical with large saves. I would probably only try to use it with the size saves that i used the save wand to save with.

After typing all that, I don't really think it could be accomplished with a third-party add-on, however I admit I do not know the limits of add-on creation...

If not an add-on, perhaps a considered feature for future versions/releases of BL?

Also, if it would require huge amounts of code/engine/something reworking, I can sit down and shut up :)

Off Topic / ^jobs
« on: October 24, 2009, 07:29:52 AM »
I realize a large part of this community is not of legal working age, but whilst slaving away at work tonight, I got curious about what kind of jobs the working class of BL has.

A couple guidelines to keep sanity:
-picking your nose or loving my mother don't count as jobs. Plus, if you are getting paid to perform loveual acts, you are a dirty hooker, and where is that getting you?
-I thought it'd be cool to post pictures where possible.Say for example you work at McDonalds, I know McDonalds is and I know generally what they look like, but some are unique, so lets see it.
-don't bitch you can't take a picture. If you can't take a good picture of your job or something to with your job, go find something on Google. The whole point is to illustrate what kind of place it is/what your job entails.

I guess I'll go first.

This is what I get paid to do:

i know, i know i broke my own rule, but now none of you have to make that painfully obvious joke.  :cookieMonster:

I drive and do maintenance on this:

It's a pretty sweet job.

Modification Help / amade bot events- node/botappearance question
« on: October 23, 2009, 02:17:29 PM »
I think I used search enough, and can't quite find the answer I'm look for. Sorry if this has already been answered some where.

I found this,
Quote
Node 0 is the right hand.
1 is the left hand.
2 is the torso.
3 is one of the feet, 4 is the other.
5 is your head.
6 is your hat.
7 is your pants.
I don't think there are any more.

but in Amade's Bot Events is there a way to edit body parts? For example, switch feet to peglegs or hands to hooks?

Any information about that, or about bot appearance in general would be loved :)

Thanks!

Off Topic / Cheater (apparently)?
« on: September 09, 2009, 04:29:37 AM »
Hey call me a n00b, newb, idiot, flame me, I don't care:

I'm damn curious about everybody's avatars having banners over them saying "cheater (apparently)" or something in the same style.

Is it a reference to a game I've never heard of/don't play?

Or is it just an avatar fad like the  :cookieMonster: thing?

Gallery / ranGar's BounceHouse
« on: September 07, 2009, 04:06:15 AM »
Hey d00ds
I just thought I'd share my most recent (completed) build. I built it for the NWB amusement park. Its a straightforward bounce house with on/off switch in the middle (which is actually sort of hard to click).

It didn't take me very long to build, actually the events took longer but only because I am still teaching my self how to use them in neat ways.

Each interior wall, floor, or roof piece has 2 addVelocity events that toggle on playertouch. There is probably a way to make the velocity values random, but I don't know how to. Also, the bricks flash red and fade out on playertouch, which isn't necessary, but I thought would look cool. All the on/off switch does is toggle collision for the bounce bricks.

The last picture is a sneak peak (of sorts) at the entrance to BounceHoulove, which is currently a WIP. While the first BounceHouse used velocity values of 2-5, BounceHoulove will most likely feature values of 40-80 and will be easily 4 times as big. Same concept, just crazier and unnecessarily more extreme. Also, the on/off switch will be much larger so the place doesn't fill up with puke heh.

Suggestions and constructive critiques are welcome, also please feel free to rate x/11

Disclaimer: I am no whiz at events. I do not doubt there is a better way to do this. Feel free to tell me about it but please don't flame me just because I used the first method I figured out.

Help / Disabling Addons from a Dedi
« on: September 06, 2009, 12:38:49 PM »
Hey,
Is there a line of code I could drop into the console window for my dedicated server to disable the "must build on a 64x64 plate" rule?

Thank you

I was bored the other day and made a cool sign. I wasn't going to post it but I saw another sign and I thought I might as well.

It took me like... 15 minutes.

Gallery / ranGar's *new* application to NWB (image heavy)
« on: August 21, 2009, 01:52:55 AM »
Hey, I've been working on this slowly for a while now, finally got it finished. It ended up being a small courthouse. its got a reception/waiting area, courtroom, judge's office, holding cells, roof access (for action movies, heh), solitary confinement cells, annd a small security center.

I feel like it turned out pretty well. I'd love constructive criticism and/or suggestions. If something is mentioned a couple times I'll do what i can to change it, but for the most part I'm rather happy with how it is. Also i can post more pictures if requested.

Gallery / a pool, or a really big bathtub.
« on: August 08, 2009, 12:23:43 PM »
so i got bored (distracted) from building and decided to take some quick shots of my second ever blockland build. it was on redliub's server, i think it took me like... an hour tops... i don't remember/doesn't matter

a couple over head shots. the manhole cover goes to a room where i was going (still might) put a way to drain the pool, and some random pipes or stuff.

standing on water looking at the snack bar

the snack bar has every conceivable pre/mid/post-swimming treat
me on the diving board
i suppose there's room for more detail, i don't consider this to be an app.

feel free to rate x/11 and/or leave constructive critiques
