king c.: Did anyone else hear that distant "FHEGURÖYN!"?
crap ok here i realize that i cut off a sentence without realizing it
Yes, everything that needs to be inserted has been inserted. I know this for sure because the guy at the computer repair place was able to successfully install my OS and everything with the idea that the computer would be ready to work as soon as I came home to plug it into the monitor.
is your RAM in the correct slot? some motherboards are finicky about that. your manual should have a guide on memory configurations.
clearing CMOS clears your bios settings, not your drives. your OS is installed on your drives. it's like a factory reset button for your motherboard.
I figured that clearing my BIOS settings might be what I want, but it's good to know that attempting it didn't interfere with the OS.
what wattage is your PSU and what brand is it?
It came with my tower, so it should be a Raidmax. It's also labelled as such. The total wattage is 500W, but I can get more specific if that's necessary.
what input is your monitor set you?
Not quite sure what you mean. I assume you're asking about what input the monitor is looking for, and I can't change that (it was one of the first things i tried). I guess the monitor only has one setting for that.
are you getting any POST codes (beeps or, if applicable, codes displayed on your motherboard)?
No, I just hear the fans and the system turn on. Would I hear the latter if the BIOS and OS are already set up?
have you connected all of your power cables from your PSU (all power connectors for your mobo, all power connectors for your GPU)?
Yes, everything that needs to be inserted has been inserted. I know this for sure because the guy at the computer repair place was able to successfully install my OS and everything with the idea that the computer would be ready to work as soon as I came home to plug it into the monitor.
you mentioned both VGA and DVI in the OP, can you clarify on that? does your monitor display any messages at all? are the connectors plugged all the way in?
My monitor tells me that it's not receiving signal. When nothing is plugged in, it tells me that the cables aren't inserted. The monitor says in its manual that it needs at least a VGA cable to work, but it can also have a DVI cable.
Did you leave the battery out for a while?
first off acer isnt a stuffty brand i dont know where you got that fromwhen I was looking up solutions, there was a particularly colorfully worded one saying that acer was stuff and that the person should just destroy their monitor and get a new one. Since I know next to nothing about computers besides Macs, I'm inclined to really believe anyone's opinion on whatever, especially because i'm having trouble with an Acer monitor.
if that doesn’t work, remove the discrete card and try the motherboard graphics
first off acer isnt a stuffty brand i dont know where you got that from
does the computer have a discrete graphics card or is it integrated only
