Off Topic / Computer fans abrubtly ceased to function

A few days ago, I bought a new graphics card for my computer: an EVGA GeForce GTX 460. I put it in the computer, and booted up. Everything seemed to be running smoothly, until I checked my temperatures. The processor was running extremely hot. When I looked inside my case, I noticed that none of the fans were turning. I quickly powered off, and put the old card (a Sparkle GT 430) back in. Upon booting, the fans were running. I checked my temperatures, and still everything was running hotter than usual. After about ten minutes, the temperatures were high enough to warrant powering off again. I have no idea what the issue could possibly be. Does anybody have any idea what I could do to fix this?

8GB of Corsair XMS3 RAM
Sparkle GT 430/EVGA GTX 460
1TB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive

Indeed, today is record store day. Being an avid collector of vinyl, this is quite an exciting day for me. I bought six albums, all at 20%. Anyone else collect vinyl records?

Off Topic / Absurdly high CPU usage?

I am very confused. I recently shut down my computer to install a Windows Update. Upon reboot, I found that even while idling, my CPU usage was far higher than normal. I usually idle at 0-5%, while now I'm getting readings around as high as 40%. In task manager, no process appears to be using much CPU at all. Any help?

Off Topic / Port forwarding woes

I've had a bad experience with port forwarding in the last few months. Despite the fact that it worked perfectly at one point to host my Minecraft server, it suddenly has stopped working. Yes, I am positive that I'm using the correct settings. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be? (my router is a Netgear WNR2000v3)

Off Topic / New PC Built!

Yay, I've successfully built myself a new PC! It's running an Intel Core i5-760 with 4GB of RAM and an NVidia GeForce GT 430. The only problem I have is with the RAM, as the system claims that 4GB are installed but only 2 are usable. Other than that, the system is running great with excellent temps.

Yeah, I know there's a million threads already about computer builds, but I've decided to post one anyway. Anyway, I've been saving my money for about a year and I've finally got enough to build my computer. I'll be buying half of the parts from Newegg and the other half from my local Micro Center, as they're having excellent sales right now on some parts. Here are the parts:

Processor: Intel Core i5-760
Case: Cooler Master HAF 922
Motherboard: Asus P7P55D-E LX
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB
PSU: OCZ StealthXStream 600W Modular
HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda
Graphics Card: Sparkle GeForce GT 430
ODD: Samsung OEM DVD-RW
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium OEM

Overall, with tax and shipping, this will cost me about 780 bucks. Yay. Post your opinions on this build.

The holiday times are upon us, and with money gained from Christmas plus what I have now, I'll hopefully be able to build a computer. Here are the parts I plan to be using:

Intel Core i5-750 Quad Core Processor 2.66 GHz
G.SKILL Ripjaws 4GB DDR3 RAM
2x Seagate Barracuda 500GB Hard Drive
PNY VCGGTS4501XPB GeForce GTS 450 Graphics Card
LITE-ON DVD Writer w/Lightscribe
And a modular PSU which I haven't decided on yet.

Post your opinions and/or advice.

Here's how it works: Read the previous post, and whatever word is suggested in it, search your music library and tell us what songs come up. You then post a new word.
Example:
Previous poster: Fire
Next poster: -lists songs in their library with the word "fire" in them. Then they suggest a new word.

If you have no songs with the word in it, just post a new word. Don't post words such as "the" that will bring up hundreds of results.

Help / Finding a far away build?

I built a secret build far from the main building area in a server, and named one of the bricks on it so I could teleport there later. I went to the same server the next day, and found that the named brick was no longer showing up in my events box. I know the build wasn't destroyed because this is my friend's server. Anyone know a way to find a far away build?
