Help / Re: How do you install and enable colour sets?
« on: September 20, 2015, 03:27:51 PM »
To change the color set of a custom game mode on your server:
1. Download the color set you want.
2. Go to <location of blockland folder>\Blockland\config\server\.
3. Replace "colorSet.txt" with the color set that you downloaded.
This method only works with custom game modes.
If you want to switch back to the default color set, just delete "colorSet.txt" and the game will reload the default one.

If you want to change the color set that a game mode you downloaded uses, follow these steps instead:
1. Open "GameMode_gamemodeName.zip".
2. Replace "colorSet.txt" with the color set that you downloaded.
Do not try this with default game modes; modifying any default add-on can break it.

Help / Re: Blockland crashes after deleting music
« on: September 19, 2015, 06:56:10 PM »
Try to disable Brick_AdminMusic
Clearly, the console.log makes it look like loading Bot_Zombie is the problem. This obviously is not the case because it's a default add-on.
I saw someone with a similar incident not too long ago. The game would just suddenly crash after loading some add-on.
He kept giving us updated console.log files, each one cashing after loading a different add-on. We just kept telling him to delete the add-on that it looked like was causing the crash.
Eventually, though, we hit this same road block: it crashed after loading a default add-on.
We then suggested that he just backup and clear his add-on folder, which fixed the crash issue.

To sum it up: Some add-on you have is causing the crash, but for some reason, the console.log isn't showing it.
I suggest you move (NOT copy) all of your add-ons to a backup folder somewhere else on your computer and see if that fixes the problem.
If it does, then you can slowly add a few add-ons at a time back into your add-ons folder until the problem returns. You can then determine which add-ons is causing the crash.

Modification Help / Re: Song not appearing ingame
« on: September 19, 2015, 06:36:41 PM »
Basically, there is only one real restriction with importing music into Blockland: the file size.
The length of the song does not matter so long as it does not exceed the file size limit of 1024kB (or 1MB).
However, Badspot recommends that all songs be kept below 512kB so that downloading the song when someone joins your server doesn't take forever.

You can use applications such as Audacity to compress the file if it exceeds the limit. Be weary that the more you compress it, the crappier it sounds.
This is why most people just try to cut the song down to a minute or less so that it just loops a couple of lines. They also do this because it's actually illegal to release the whole song on these forums (or anywhere on the internet for that matter).

Help / Re: Big text help.
« on: September 19, 2015, 03:36:35 PM »
All fonts that are installed on your computer will work.
However, if you're on/hosting a server, no one else will be able to see the font you used unless they also have it.
Many fonts, such as Times New Roman, Comic Sans, Impact and Papyrus come pre-installed with Windows and Mac. But there are many more that other users might not be able to see properly.

Help / Re: Can't connect to servers
« on: September 19, 2015, 03:30:31 PM »
For most people, this is temporary issue fixed by restarting Blockland. Although sometimes it's server-sided.
If restarting doesn't work, make sure that your ethernet cable is securely plugged into both your computer and the wall.
If you're using wi-fi, make sure your laptop isn't randomly disconnecting/reconnecting. This can cause issues connecting to the master server sometimes.

Help / Re: Blockland Crashes when starting a server
« on: September 18, 2015, 12:30:45 PM »
NO EDIT: To save time, you could try putting between 10 and 25 add-ons back in at one time. This will give you a general idea of which one is causing the problem.

Ok, I moved the addons, and it works fine
Then, chances are, one of the add-ons had some sort of corrupted code causing the game to crash.
Try putting each add-on back in one at a time until the problem returns. This will indicate which one is broken.
If you don't feel like taking the time to do that, then...you'll just have to live with not knowing.

Ya, it is taking forever to back them up
NO EDIT: If it's taking a while to move all of them, you should probably consider deleting a few anyways just to free up some space.

No, I mean completing delete everything in it and don't put them back.
Deleting all of your add-ons will help figure out whether or not it was an add-on causing the problem.
Well back them up so you can add them back in until you find the problem.
Don't just completely delete them forever.
A common strategy is to move (not copy) all of your add-ons into a backup folder and put them back into the add-ons folder one by one until the problem returns. Once the problem returns, you know which one caused the problem.

Help / Re: Nobody can join my servers because of --- ping
« on: September 18, 2015, 12:21:13 PM »
he prob won't know either
Incorrect. There's no reason he shouldn't know unless he simply hired someone or called a friend to hook it up for him and they never gave him the info.

However, Googling the default login info might work.

I never had to, but if I can, I'll try.
You HAVE to forward your ports in order for a multiplayer server to work. Otherwise, your computer can't establish a connection to the master server because of annoying firewalls.

Instructions for Macs?
Your not installing anything or changing any settings on your computer. All your doing is changing the port settings on your router. The instructions are the same no matter what OS your on.

Thanks, but it looks like it crashes on other stuff also
Yeah, that time it cut off after loading "Projectile_GravityRocket", which is a default add-on...
Try emptying your add-ons folder, and if that doesn't work, see what happens if you reinstall.

Help / Re: My vehicle crashes Blockland
« on: September 18, 2015, 12:08:04 PM »
It might be a little easier to get down to the problem your modified version is causing if you give us a copy of your modified version.

How do I do that?
Also, if you don't know how to do something as simple as look for a "loop", it's probably best you try not to modify add-ons yourself so that you can avoid situations like this in the future.
Not trying to call you stupid or anything, it'd just be best if you learn a bit more about developing add-ons before trying to modify one.

It appears as though it crashes after trying to load "Script_FilmBots".
I suggest deleting it and trying again.
