the last time i went fishing it was with a block of wood, a line, and a hook in south america.

i've been wanting to get a license for maryland to sit in the bay and fish, but first i want to get a canoe, and it'd probably be better to wait till i move out of central west virginia and closer to central maryland. not planning on changing states though, makes it a bit tough
South America would be interesting for pearooster bass, those things get huge.

Boats are nice, even small ones. I'm considering buying a Tuggie Boat to modify and add a trolling motor to, turning a kids sandbox toy into a one man boat. It's kinda stupid but also genius because people have done it and it actually works. The only problem is you technically need to register it with the Minnesota DMV or something as a watercraft as it has an engine, but there's plenty of places to fish with it that DNR never comes around to.

yeah honestly trying to stir up kiwifarms is ultimately just going to make things worse.
KF doesn't care about the Blockland forums.

speaking from experience as the guy who made that one thread about the kiwifarms thread about this website and promptly got yelled at for it
Maybe I'm just tired as it's early morning but this reads terribly lol

There's isn't much to talk privately about. dude got butthurt because I asked for more proof port was actually a creep. He then started searching for me on Discord so he could have some kind of dumb one up on me.
IIRC there was a huge thread on all of this stuff. Rampant child enthusiasm is Brickadia's brand at this point lol

when the government takes 30% of your salary elsewhere in the world: "give us it back in the form of social services and aid for the working class"

when the government takes 30% of your salary in the us: "oh sorry mr government keep giving more to ukraine and raytheon, i didn't mean to upset you i dont expect anything in return i am pulling myself up by my bootstrapts by working for 7.5/hr at mcdonalds for 80 hours a week, hike my taxes and cut taxes for the rich, mr bezos deserves an extra 5 trillion dollars he works so hard"
Average US Citizen pays 6 gorillion a year in taxes, meanwhile rich people pay nothing via billions of loopholes such as "donating". The only reason they donate is to get tax cuts.

I live in MN and I'm considering moving out of here because we get raped in income tax, it's thievery. We're one of the only states where we give more to the government in taxes than the government gives back to us. The only thing we have to show for ourselves is being a large Somalian community.

You know what's interesting is that speaking to people from Latin America like Colombia, Peru, Brazil, etc, it's very hard for these people to gain access to the USA. Even just to visit the USA they need some special VISA that takes months/years to gain access to. Why? It pisses me off because my girlfriend who is from Peru wants to visit/move to the USA, and even with a college degree she said it's nigh impossible to come here. Meanwhile, just in my state alone there's many people from other cultures like the Asias/middle east, and as far as I know it was comparatively much easier for these people to enter the USA. Is there some specific law that just makes it hard to come here specifically for Latin folks or?

Most Latin folks in my age group that I've met here are only here because they're apart of some autistic program where they have to live with a USA citizen's family and basically be a babysitter for the family. And even as a part of this program, they have very little control over where in the USA they go. And if they don't like the family they're living with? Get sent to some other random family god knows where in the USA, or get sent back to your country. Forget what the program is called, but yeah its bullstuff.

As far as I can see the only way to access KF now is TOR, so that's essentially the nail in the coffin.

Nobody genuinely uses TOR. It was only really popular in the 2014-2016 deep web browsing era.

@crook/mr. bones although you bring up valid points, i think there is an argument to be had that kf enabled those stuffty people to do those things by allowing the publication of other people's personal information without repercussion.
This is a good point and I can't argue against it, you're correct. I think it's worth noting the lolcow's who's information is public generally weren't people hiding behind anonymity anyway. People who've posted their face or shared their name, etc. This doesn't justify sharing very personal information like phone numbers or addresses, but yeah. There should be a more stringent rule regarding sharing peoples information, but we have to remember KF isn't a funded website. It's out of Iban's own pocket and the few moderators that it does have are volunteers.

Reddit used this hands off moderation approach for a long time, allowing subreddits like /r/picsofdeadkids and other shocking subs exist in order to "protect free speech", but the bad press did catch up with them eventually so now we have a more strict Reddit.

you can say that theres a benefit in that kf have targeted genuinely bad people, but what kf identifies as a "bad person" can include people who haven't actually done anything seriously wrong, and vice versa. i personally wouldn't trust iban (or anyone i only know online, for that matter) to be impartial, ethical, or fair in drawing that line as the site administrator, given the lack of accountability except in extremely egregious situations.
Also correct, and there are threads on folks who have not done much wrong other than post cringy/stupid stuff. IBan is more just the owner than he is an admin, he doesn't enforce anything and there also isn't really a lolcow guideline/rulebook. If it means anything, threads on people who are harmless don't last for long. There's thousands and thousands of threads, but only a handful are regularly posted in. 90 percent of them gain no traction and die quickly.

what justified trying to track her down and harass her irl?
Nothing did. Infact most condone it, including IBan. Not to asskiss IBan here, but most people didn't think this was okay to do - including KF members and it's owner.

It's like someone in the thread said earlier, it doesn't take an entire community to investigate and harass someone. One bad actor can do this, and that's exactly what happened. You should be angry with the person/few people who thought this was okay, not with the website that massively and publicly condoned this. It's like when YouTube drama happens and fans of Youtuber A brigade to Youtuber B's channel to stuff on them because Youtuber A criticized them; even though Youtuber A never told their audience to go harass Youtuber B. In this situation would you blame the Youtuber, or would you blame the bad actors? The only reasonable answer is the latter. A website with thousands of users daily cannot and shouldn't be held responsible for the behavior of a few; if this was the case then most every social media platform should be shut down by the same logic.

and on that note - what about chris chan, which was the original reason the forum was set up for? chris has only degenerated as much as he has because of the harassment he got for being targeted by online trolls. if there was no online focus on him he'd probably go by as a bog-standard autistic manchild who never grew up, rather than whatever forgeted-up title people give him now.
Chris-chan is a victim of bullying, this isn't debatable. As stated earlier and if you're familiar with KF, most of it's members don't like IBan/Null for many reasons, the Chris obsession being one of them.

on the chris chan note - just so everyone knows, the actual suspects involved in manipulating/goading chris into the recent atrocities have as of late been sending emails to KF begging null to remove the evidence of what they did from the forum, where it is all, naturally, archived. Null has actually done a fair amount to help chris.
This. The people responsible for manipulating Chris are genuinely monsters - and because of KF everybody knows it. Especially the girl involved who's name I forget at the moment, I suspect she is on borrowed time and probably going to get in legal trouble soon enough, and she should. These folks are worse than most lolcows, especially worse than Chris. Chris up until recently was one of the lolcows who was actually not really harming anybody.

This isn't the case for most other people who are common subjects on KF though. Most of these people being documented are POS's, like potential or genuine child predators, people who abuse the courts to file false lawsuits, people who harass women online or IRL AKA extreme incels, deranged people who have been charged with crimes or soon will be, etc.

on the chris chan note - just so everyone knows, the actual suspects involved in manipulating/goading chris into the recent atrocities have as of late been sending emails to KF begging null to remove the evidence of what they did from the forum, where it is all, naturally, archived. Null has actually done a fair amount to help chris.
The lolcow's who ask for their threads to get removed/threaten legal action are the equivalent of criminals getting mad at someone ratting them out for informing police, they're upset that people are catching on to their stuffty behavior and want to censor it. I don't think I've seen a single case where a 'victim' was justified to ask for their thread to get taken down. stuffty people can't succeed if everyone knows that they're stuffty.

you're right, what we really need to do is kill everyone who used it
I don't think there is anything wrong with documenting people and their stuffty behavior online and in the real world though, that's the thing. Many of the people being talked about on the site deserve to get dunked on. They're not just documenting children being silly or people making a dumb mistake that's then corrected, they're following people who are generally deranged and cause trouble everywhere we go. Many of the "victims" are borderline criminal, if not straight up criminal. If nobody is calling out someone's bullstuff, they're just gonna continue with the bullstuff. It's essentially social pressure, which is what the intention of the Drama subforum here on BLF is/was. If you can't punish someone directly, call them out and hopefully everyone telling them to stop convinces them to change their behavior for the better. There's not much else you can do ya know?

It doesn't sound like you've taken the time to really look at the website, because you're acting like this is just a hate forum that picks on innocent people for the lulz or something. It's not. Yes, there are and have been threads that are essentially just bullying, but a majority of posts and users are essentially just a news outlet for stuffty people. Documentation from the sidelines, not directly interacting with the people being "targeted".

internet culture has changed and as much as i love stuffting on idiots online, these kind of sites now are just breeding grounds for people who are radicalized in this kind of behavior. kiwifarms itself may not condone it but all it takes is one bad actor to do something foul (and by the looks of it it happens a lot)
Of course, but what does shutting down KF accomplish? They'll just go somewhere else you know?

4chan has been around significantly longer and has been the breeding grounds for much more terrible stuff yet the website is still up. We've seen a lot of terrible stuff spawn from Reddit too. However these sites weren't created for drama farming, I get that.

I can't really argue with what you're saying at all and it's agreeable, but despite KF's intended purpose a majority of the users and Iban/Null don't support private investigating or supremely edgy stuff like wishing for people to commit Self Delete. These issues are more an Internet anonymity issue than a KF issue IMO, and that's a much larger fish to fry. These issues exist on most if not all social media platforms. I don't think we can really propose a solution to that besides condoning that behavior and punishing it accordingly, there's no real way to truly stop it.

what is the difference between threats being posted on sites like kf than other social media platforms like facebook/twitter/youtube? i'm sure there have been more than thousands of such things posted on those websites, even murders/terror attacks that have been carried out on after being posted about on the bigger websites. but no one calls for facebook to be shut down. regardless of how you feel about kf, you have to admit that this campaign to get rid of it is orchestrated by media companies with much more than sheer good intentions. all of it's politically motivated, and will only embolden them further to come down harder on larger targets. sites like 4chan will be next, mark my words.
NVM someone beat me to the point I was typing up lol

on god bro I forgot I already used that metaphor here
anyway stfu. grow a brain. they are intentionally harassing people with the express goal of them killing themselves. if that's not enough for you then how about bomb threats?

It was already pointed out in a post by IBan this person is a burner account that is a bad actor, was created in 2020 yet wasn't active until July of this year. Even then, they've only posted a handful of times.

I don't think a burner account who's likely trolling is representative of an entire community?

The "driving people to Self Delete narrative" does hold weight, but when you actually examine the people who sadly ended their lives most if not all of them were troubled people who suffered from Self Delete ideation before they were even talked about on the forums. One person did cite Kiwi in their Self Delete note, but when they committed Self Delete they didn't even have a thread on the forum *yet*. In one of the threads of a person that did commit Self Delete, most users offered condolences and the thread was closed shortly after.

Kiwifarms is edgy, but not to the point that users are wishing death on those who are documented on the forum (but there are bad actors, they do get ridiculed/banned though).

They're also self aware, and Iban has his own thread. He gets made fun of constantly.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a website of this nature, as long as it stays contained in the forum and goes no further than that. People have the right to say something you might not like you know, especially if you're stirring stuff. If you looked at the people documented on the site you'd realize most of them deserve it.

I figured as much would happen

yeah I used to catch catfish at the Chesapeake bay in Maryland. Pepperoni made for amazing bait but the caveat being you could ONLY catch catfish with it. They're good though so i was chillin
Always found it weird how you use bullstuff to catch catfish, or carp. I swear you could throw a turd with googly eyes out there and they'll eat it lol

Any of y'all out there like fishing? I just got back into it this summer after not having fished pretty much since I was a little kid. As a kid me and my dad were always just fishing for stuff like crappies and sunfish, you know, kid stuff. This spring heard some coworkers talking about fishing and decided I'd try and go catch some bigger fish that I've never caught before, like bass or pike.

Fast forward to this summer, and I've been having pretty good luck. No monsters yet, but I've caught several pike and a couple bass. There's a lake by me I fish often called Normandale Lake, in Bloomington MN, and that's where I catch most everything.

It's funny cause the local DNR doesn't designate this lake as having fish, the lake got drained several years back to combat invasive aquatic vegetation. I see a lot of people fish here and they never catch anything. The general public likes to fish in this channel running under a bridge, but I've never seen anyone catch anything there in the summer months. They fish in stuffty spots
There's a few spots I've found where there is always fish around.

Largest pike I've caught so far was likely around 26 inches. I didn't measure or weigh it, but just estimating it was around the size, over 20 inches for sure. Not bad at all. Just this last weekend caught a pretty little pike there, and caught a reasonably sized smallmouth bass.

Any of you guys into fishing? What do you like to fish for, and where? Favorite lures/rods/reel setups? Discuss general fishing topics here!

how long ago was the interview? I'd suggest following up, just send them an email to ask for an update. they may have picked someone else, in which case you at least get some closure, but following up like that can sometimes make the difference between choosing you or another similar candidateit's pretty common. it usually means they thought you'd be a good fit, but some other candidate just barely had the advantage. it's rude to not send a rejection notice, but that is also practically standard practice....... so you get what you get, I guess. don't give up tho. job hunting sucks, but eventually something will work out. good luck
Interview was a couple weeks ago. I know I wasn't the only one who applied but there applications expired on Indeed, then they opened new ones. Sent a follow up message, got no reply so I'm just moving on. I keep getting places asking me to apply that pay literally identical to what I'm already making, and that's stupid to me. I'm not switching jobs to make the same amount of money.
