« on: June 23, 2015, 06:35:53 PM »then go for it, it wouldn't be a dedicated server, but it would be a normal server hosted with you (probably) afkwell I Think because when my Mac falls a sleep or anything it makes the sever Shut down
you could still play on other servers and/or join from the other computer

as for putting player names, you can put "%1" in the text and the player's name will show up

I put mine on a laptop and it runs fine.
You don't need to buy dedicated hosting.
