General Discussion / Re: Preconfigured environment

I think that might be a mac related error, doesn't like long named zips or something.

hmm, I've renamed it to Server_EnvAL.zip as well as inside it's namecheck.txt and although there is no error in console, it's still not working even after I've created config/server/savedEnvironment.txt file manually and gave it write permissions for everyone.

yes

thanks, good to know

I'd also like it if it would work for me :) You're the creator of it, aren't you...maybe you have any ideas on the issue described above? Thanks in advance

either ctrl+f for Client_EnvFavorites or Client_SaveEnvironment

Thanks a lot, http://swololol.com/rd?f=Client_EnvFavorites did the trick! At least I don't have to reconfigure environment manually again.

I tried installing it, but console keeps saying "Error opening zip (Add-Ons/Server_EnvironmentA#38EC25A.zip), need to handle this better..."
Do you have an idea why isn't it working?

P.S. Weird thing is there are 2 more add-ons throwing that error when I open Environments GUI: GameMode_Ninja_Jump_Challenge .zip and GameMode_Blockheads_Ruin_Xmas .zip and even though I delete the files they're recreated when I start Blockland...Are they part of the game? If so, why are they throwing that error.

General Discussion / Preconfigured environment
« on: September 28, 2017, 07:12:33 PM »
So, I've started a game, configured ground, water, sky and built a lot of stuff. Now I want to save it all for next time. The only way I'm aware of is to save blocks. However, next time I start a game and load blocks I have to configure ground, water and sky again, is there a way to preconfigure environment (ground, water, sky) only once and load it anytime in the future or at worst just change the default configuration?

I was searching through the game files but didn't find any plain-text configuration to hack around with.

Thanks

Updated OP with download link and new images

Thank you! How did you know exactly which add-ons are required for this save? Is there some tool for that or something?

My replication of epic Vacation Hideaway LEGO set #6592 released 1990

Attached LEGO #6592.bls and LEGO #6592.jpg files which you can download directly to your %BLOCKLAND%\saves directory and load the model in the game

Please note: this is replica of real set, not my free build!

P.S. If you have made replication of other LEGO real sets or have URLs to others work, please share

Most of that looks like it can be built with normal bricks. If you're interested in castle stuff I would recommend these medieval brick packs though.
Pass' Medieval Props Pack
WhoooMan's Medieval Bricks

Those are very good for interior / exterior castle related stuff indeed. I've also found these:

https://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=290194.0
https://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=298540.0

And the best finding - someone made the raised baseplate used in 6086 LEGO set as a brick add-on:

But it was a pain to find these... I wish there was a better directory of all that stuff.

I guess I will start building these castles using normal bricks and see where it goes.

use the search function and limit the search to addons, then put "brick" as the search value and WhoooMan as the post author.

you can also just search vehicle bricks, lego bricks in the addon board.

For a handful of random add-ons (nearly all are mine), check: http://mirror.dataorb.net/blockland/addons/

They're both pretty good but Blackdragon's has a wider variety of bricks, all fillers included.

I stick with just Demian's because that's what I've always used,

Thank you. Downloaded lots of bricks lately, including Demian's packs, it starts to make more sense now.
Are you aware of any castle themed bricks / packs that could be used in these sets:

Sorry, made the exact same mistake again, not on purpose, I've meant "Blockland"... damn it, I just can't help myself but think about bricks and not blocks in this game...

i'm loving done

lol I'm too, after realizing the misspelling :)

Sorry for the mistake. I meant "Blockland" of cource, however brickland sounds not bad too... didn't make it on purpose though :)

Think this is best for finding bricks. While not all bricks ever created exist here, some of the most important do. Not sure exactly what you need, but I would go with Blackdragon's packs first, they contain a lot of must haves. Uploads have pictures with them so you know exactly what you're getting.

I'll help you out. Here is a download for a couple of very popular, widely used add-ons. You can just keep the bricks if you like. (To install, just drag the zips into Blockland/Add-Ons to copy them over)

Thanks you! It all helped, really. Found many useful bricks through your links. I think, however, Brickland deserves a better directory of add-ons, it's all a matter of knowing exact URLs now rather than having a resource where all add-ons can be just easily browsed...

General Discussion / Ultimate bricks packs?

Hi,

I'm new to Brickland. Very impressed by it and by what others create with it so far. I'd like to replicate some LEGO models (whatever models I will find possible to replicate). The problem is that the default selection of bricks, while it is amazing, is not enough for some use cases. And after visiting some online Brickland servers where authors host their creations I've realized that there are some great bricks add-ons out there. However, I couldn't find a convenient way of browsing the add-ons to pick-n-install what I find interesting.

My question is: are there some pre-assembed (I mean a zip archive containing zip archives of add-ons, for example) packs that I can just install and start my local game with all bricks add-ons selected and find my way through them in the game?

If you're not aware of such packs and you find needed bricks easily, please share your search process then, maybe I'm just missing something.

I've tried browsing the Add-ons thread in this forum, I've tried Brickland Glass, I've browsed the archived clone of RTB - it all takes a lot of time to try & keep or uninstall each add-on before finding something useful, really really time consuming and inconvenient. Please let me know if I'm missing something though.

Thank you
