I haven't tried this myself, but I think the problem here is that you're using the non-Steam version of the game. I bought the game on Steam and it works fine, even with BLG and max settings, which, unfortunately, my computer will not run since my graphics card is the computer equivalent to a dirt house. As a result, it can't be a quirk of your drivers.

That, or you're running Windows 10 S. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
