nice build, but i feel like you would have done better if you didnt start with a baseplate and thus didnt force yourself to build around the square base for the floating part

Actually, this is how it started out as, but I still get what you meant lol.

High in the skies is a lone floating island hovering unsupported by anything but its own propulsion. It serves as a marker for something once below, but what it was no one seems to remember.

For a first, I think you really showed your understanding of brick count conservation! Typically I see first builds use a lot of 1x1x5s and such instead of the bigger bricks because, y'know, the mindset is more likely "let's just fill it up as quickly as I can" than "how efficient can I be". Like, for example, the interior walls are nice and large, and the exterior uses the brick pattern fairly well. Good work!
I actually never thought of the brick count while I was making this, but it is good to know about such a thing just in case. I can understand why it's important, as servers that have a lot of addons already brings loading times to a crawl for me. What usually helps me along is thinking of how it would really work as a real lego set. I should try to experiment more with non-default/"classic" bricks looking back at it. What would be some good essential tools to help me along the way to speed building up as well?

good work op! i've never seen a build like this before, with a building inside a building in this manner.
Thanks! My best intention was to make the walls feel very utilitarian as if you were able to easily move them in any arrangement desired.

I made this to just get it out of the way.
