Help / Re: 24/7 Dedi Server
« on: December 28, 2009, 07:46:37 PM »
I can run my 24/7 because I nabbed a broken computer from my school and a friend and I repaired it. It's no beast of a server but it gets the job done. Basically, the only way you'll get a free server is if you know how to fix a junker.

Did anyone realize the OP editted his/her post?

I was editing out a typo, as I'm a grammar national socialist.

Blockland isn't that profitable. He gets a very small cut of each purchase for himself. Something like... $5. Over three years that'd really only about about what... $80000, and from that, how much goes to new software and maintaining the server(s)?

Drama / How long will Blockland be maintained?

It just popped into my head a few minutes ago and in the brief time I went looking I found no information regarding how long Badspot intends to continue Blockland. So my question is, how much longer does Badspot plan on maintaining Blockland (hopefully)?

I don't like it that much. I think you used too much rounds.

Thanks for the input.

Huh? Welcome to the Blockland forums. Also, being sarcasm? Ever heard of "Sarcastic"?

Yeah, he's trolling. This was on his profile page:

I'd like to apply for beta testing.

Firstly, let me inform you that I've got another project going on so
take that into consideration; I'll still try hard to attend the beta sessions.

Application:

I would like to beta test Niliscro's FutureRPG because it fits a genre that
I follow avidly; I love science fiction and to play it in Blockland is just so
fantastic.

I can't help with scripting corrections or modeling or anything like that, but
I know what's good game-play wise; I work on CityRPG Version 2 with Iban
currently and without me his mod would still only be halfway better than
a traditional CityRP game-play wise (although he's contributed more than my
share of ideas).
I play quite a few sci-fi RPG's and I've role-played enough to get into the theme.

Reading is a habit of mine and in particular the books Larry Niven authors
are my favorite; it's hard to find works that are well researched and well thought
out so that the futuristic setting in front of you appears to be entirely realistic
and dynamic.

In short, I know science fiction, and I'm not half bad with game-play design. On top
of that, I've been bug-testing with Iban to know how to spot issues.

I live in the mid-west, if that matters much.

How is seeing something digitally in motion any different than seeing something digitally in still? (Besides the motion)

There's a huge difference.
An absolutely huge difference.

I didn't say paint the exterior every color possible. Maybe make the columns stand out more, they should be part of the focus.

I don't think so. The columns are large enough to be noticeable themselves. See it in person sometime soon.

Way too many rounds. It also uses arches a bit oddly.

Thanks for the input. I feel the arches are a nice touch to an otherwise bland border for the roofing.
The rounds are great because they do a better job of making things look classical and more like actual columns.

This is so freakin' lovey!
I really love it!
Nice use of arches!

Interior isn't the best though, maybe you could fix it up by putting some more stuff in it, because it looks empty

Thanks, firstly. Second, we made the decision to not fill up the interior because 6000 bricks was
more than enough for me. The rest of the city is 35000 bricks strong, so I'm clamping down on
how many more bricks can be in the server before we open.

TL;DR
I'm saving bricks because we've got too many. It's eye-candy, not much more.
