General Discussion / Re: Where are the Blockland files located on Ubuntu?
« on: December 31, 2013, 10:32:03 PM »
They would most likely be under the wine directory, as atleast under my config they are all contained inside its folder inside /dev/ (if I recall, it was a year or two ago).

Sonic, halo, both of you stop spamming.

Badspot, now would be a good time to get the fire extinguishers and point them at the router.

So, my googlefu has rendered a solution to the issue provided badspot has a spare computer and the servers are hosted localy (his home, or someplace he can chuck a desktop into the data flow). Simply toss a PFsence box to interrupt the flow of data from the input source and set it to drop all packets from the known spamming IPs. Its a quick, dirty, unstable method but it would get the servers back online ASAP even through the DDOS. If they are somehow managing to max out the cap of the inbound/outbound line, then we are truly SOL.

Nope, its back down again.

I know, but who other than Okiver can do this sort of thing?

Lets be real here. If I had some money, or a few hours in a school computer lab (which the average teenager has access to), I could do the exact same thing and DDOS RTB or the master server/auth server. Okiver is the prime suspect, however that being said it could be any person with a grudge. We dont know who it is untill badspot releases IPs, so all of the spamming of Okivers facebook, skype, steam, etc could be us spamming someone who is innocent.

I said I was a hack.

We have no definite proof as of now if this is a "hack" or if this is a DDOS. We dont even know if this is one single person with some form of ungodly high bandwidth internet, or if this is a botnet. Kindly do not make allegations you can not back up.

If the IPs are spoofed or from a botnet, then what?

If the IPs are spoofed, then it becomes another story. We need to see the IPs first, and locate their origin. If its a botnet, then we are fairly SOL other then contacting one of the users somehow and getting them to run wireshark on their computer. Wireshark will allow us to see what IP is sending the work to be processed from the slave.

You have to find the DDoSer first, which is not an easy task.

Im guessing that badspot could just pull a IP (ips?) out of said DDOS shunt hes using at the moment. At best we could call up the ISP he/she/it is using and attempt to get some action taken

Hi all,

So, as someone who does a bit of DDOS mitigation on some minecraft stuff, wouldn't it be possible to DDOS the DDOSer, thus causing them to be shut down? That being said, im not attempting to organize a DDOS, but just blaitent curiosity.

Help / Re: I can't find the search button
« on: May 07, 2013, 03:02:55 AM »
It appears its back now, but if it goes away, simply place this on the end of your google search: site:forum.blockland.us

That should limit the search only to the BL forums.
