General Discussion / Re: Old time player here, just passing by.
« on: January 19, 2017, 10:01:10 AM »
Don't give the man a hard time. Yes BL isn't dead but you don't need to call him a cigarette just because he expressed his opinion and mentioned that in it.

I want to chip in 2 things:

1. I might not be an "old" player but have certainly sucked my hours into this game (it also makes me question wtf I am doing with my life) and from what I have seen from my own experiences, heard from others and seen in YT, the game does not have the community it had and part of that is because of a lack of involvement from Erick.

SIDE NOTE: I don't remember who said it but yes, Erick shouldn't have to worry and bitch over and slave to us players, but he also should have done something for a "final update" or something along the lines and have done something special, or pass the title of DEV to someone else so that that selected person could take on the task and continue it.

2. You might say that this game is Community driven, and you not entirely wrong, but here is some fruit for thought if you'd like to take it that way. 2 things happened last year which where great. BL in-game browser (or was that this year?) and pretty much a reboot of RBT known as Glass. Both addons expand the game to a whole new horizon and allow features either once had and lost and new experiences and ways to interact with people in the game. Great servers have been hosted which have made the game unique and fun, such as the Medieval RP, Crowns, (I guess you could include the NY Party) and more. (Those are just the ones of the top of my head, it's late atm as I am typing this).

Out of all of this, is the community actually coming together and driving this game forwards? TBH I'd say no. The closest thing everyone has seen to this is Filipe's BL10 plan, his way to revive the game by uniting players in an attempt to revive Blockland! That didn't go far, and not much has been done with it. There was a server for awhile, but not much was done.

If we really wanted this game to be "Community driven" then every player would have to "unite" and work together in publicity, projects to make the game better via addons (like reviving static maps) and other things (idk, insert something here). But frankly there just isn't many of us left and not many (from what I have seen so take it with a grain of salt and don't get pissy with me) seem to care or want to get involved.
This is the reason the BL10 project has gotten very far as of yet.

Now I just want to clarify befor you do indeed throw a stuff storm at me, there is Community activity and involvement, just not enough of it to keep the game moving and alive for much longer. This may be the games 10 anniversary but unless some impossible like Erik coming back happens, it's just us and we will have to do everything.

So yes, this is my opinion, just like Acelin's. You can bitch about me and to me all you like, but that isn't going to change anything but just make you look like a fool.

And no, I don't regret posting this, I feel like it was a good thing even if I am wrong about certain details.

You hit the nail right on the head there. The amount of hours I poured in to this game, I remember coming home straight from school, loading up the game and playing it until early hours of the morning. I don't care what people think of what I am saying, it's my perception and my opinion of this game now. The game has drastically changed from how it was a couple years ago. You would click "Join a Game" and have an endless choice of servers to play on, Free Builds, Roleplays, Team Deathmatches, Nightclubs, Unlimited Mining and just so much more, every server was packed out and everyone respected each other. Now you go look at the server list, hardly any variety or quality servers, only a few servers actually have people on it, everyone insults you for putting across your opinion and the developer couldn't care less about the game. All he has to do is give the dev status over to someone else who would really fix this game and drive people back to the game. Because at the moment the game is soulless and has no spark left in it. Even if Badspot wants to keep ownership so he can still earn his money, that is fine, just get a developer who will continue working on the game. Some of you may be in denial, but the game is slowly dying out, people are becoming bored of the extremely long updates which don't really add anything anymore. So, that is my honest opinion of the game at the moment, I hope to see change in the future before there is nothing to change.

Yes but it's  nothing like it use to be. You could spend hour sleeping on the game and always find something new to do. I was just putting across my opinion. The main issue is that it needs a new Dev who will actively update and improve.

Hi guys,

Was sitting at my PC earlier thinking of a game to play as I was really bored and was completely tired out of building on StarMade. Then Blockland popped in to my head, got it on to my steam again, installed it and clicked "Join a Game" and my heart sank, there was a total of 40 players spread across all the servers. I stopped playing when they removed player maps as I enjoyed making servers, getting people on, making secret bases in all the hiding spots like Mike's House and that. It's a HUGE shame the game as died out like it has, it's such a beautiful, heart-felt game with an amazing community. I just wish Badspot would give this project over to someone who really wants to bring it back and listen to what the community wants. This game has so so much potential. I would defiantly come back and play if there was something like RTB again and maps.

I hope the best for this game and the community, the game and the people deserve it.

Yeah I guess I have over reacted. It has been long, I am just used to how it use to be. I just hope something like RTB comes out.

wah wah me no like change everything was better in the 90s

Ephi shut down RTB and quit being a moderator after the Steam release. Its been 4 years since you bought it. You played it for two years and came back recently. You must've had fun out of the first two years you played. Two years worth of game for 20 dollars isn't bad at all when there are 60 dollar games that last half that time at most.

Yes, I don't like this change because everything was fine, it was a brilliant game. Now I don't know what to make of it.

So, I have came back to Blockland after two years, and to be honest I am shocked at what has happened to blockland, it isn't the same, doesn't have the same feel and has just become un nessessarily complicated. RTB has been stopped, maps deleted, it's on Steam now... I miss the good old days, playing on Mike's House with all my aeons with my mates making secret bases in all the secret locations in the map. Now we're stuck to crappy flat maps, have no way now of contacting friends, no way of easily viewing Addons... It's just not the same anymore, I don't like it and neither does my brother, we bought this game about 3-4 years ago and now seeing what it is like I wish I never bought it.

What do we use now instead of RTB?
Why can't we use maps made by hard working people?
Is Blockland going to continue on a declining slope?

So here's what it looks like to me. You built a 500 brick build with a few ramps and a box you call a "Stage", and you are making it an event, even though there are no other DJs going to it. And you scheduled it for three days before Blockoworld. Finish the build and book some DJs then make it for Winter when there's like no events.

I just had a look at your "Blockness" and now I have seen I have rushed this...I need to work on this slower and put more time and effort into this.
It looks terrible. Really the whole Light Show to music is starting to get old. Plus you guys just play stuffty SKRILEX and Deadmau5 songs.

Daft Punk > Dubstep

;)

Skrillex? Nope I have none of his songs.

8
Hey look, another convention thing.

Yeah sorry but the build doesn't look very good..

And seriously?  Three days before Blockoworld?  And right around the same time as Blockness too?  This has to be a ripoff
It is scheduled for that date, but there is a 80% chance it will be after that.

I joined and it was horrible, you got kicked if you went on the stage, which wasn't being blocked by any bricks. All that was happening was skrillex/deadmau5 music with 4 buttons that turned lights on/off and fireworks on/off.

That's when we first started the build. Also the reason you were kicked for going on stage is because we were working on lights and other stuff.

Plus the entire build is about 20% done, so when you were in here it was about 5% done.

"camping in the woods with zombies"

read the post

and "Darkness" was probably like "(SPACE)Darkness" or something. Idk.

I didn't see you have YoungRotations O.O.

That guy is epic... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kre7JxULz5o
But yeah...I haven't copied anyone.

10
no i wasn't
Thank god for that his name was "Darkness"

uh yeah

so is blockness, which was posted like a month before this

I only just seen your "Blockness" thing when you last commented, and quite frankly it seems boring, camping in some woods with zombies. Why copy that? How I got this idea was in 2010 I made a small nightclub and rarely got people on it, so I built bigger one which got more people on. Then I stopped playing blockland and recently about 2 months ago started DJ'ing, then built a nightclub then built this. So, no I haven't copied or made a "Rip-off" on no one.

11
not trying to promote my own event

but that looks a lot like Blockness

infact, you might say it's a ripoff

also looks pretty spammy

Wait aren't you that guy who came on the server and wouldn't stop moaning? And also, this is a DUBSTEP and Techno festival. Ofcourse lights will be going everywhere.

12
doesn't look like fun.
we blocklanders DO have better things to do then sit around and listen to music and watch a lightshow.

Your opinion, everyone who joined earlier for a test on the lights really enjoyed it.

The DJ's will be syncing lights, flares, strobes, fireworks to many songs while you dance and meet with friends, or you could go to the shop and get a free Deadmau5 hat.

General Discussion / Re: Ace's Nightclub
« on: July 06, 2012, 12:25:20 PM »

January 1st, 2011

I got my DJ thingy from an old server I went on. It was a nightclub in the map Bedroom_dark and he didn't use custom music. I have been in your server before but I didn't even see your stage thing, I was partying and with my mates.

EDIT: And the things on the wall I used about 2 years ago on my own freebuild server when I made a pub.
