Reasons to force people to buy retail:

1) Make more money. Nothing wrong with this. How else will Badspot pay the bills?
2) Makes it less of a headache for support and will be less confusing for users in general.

The first reason is the most important IMO. And I have to whole-heartedly disagree with it being an "unwise" decision. I think it would be a very wise decision. I think the word you are looking for is "not fair to people who expect eveyrthing in life to stay free forever, even though it was announced that the game would be sold over two years ago". Right?
I don't think Badspot will be making enough to pay for the time he spent developing it. I mean seriously - if everyone on the forums bought a copy that'd only be about $56,000. Sure that is a lot better than nothing but it still isn't enough to live off of unless he can keep it coming in from other sources. Honestly if he were trying to make a living, he'd have charged a good bit more than $20. Say $30 to 40.

metrics(fps); did the trick. Running at optimal quality (4x antialiasing and 16x anisotropic) I get around 100 while aiming the camera at the demo blocks loaded in the bedroom scene. :D

You shouldn't need a slider for anti aliasing or anisotropic filtering. Just go into your video card's control panel and tell it you want it. For me, I just right click the Ati icon on the taskbar, hover over the video card name, then over 3D Settings, then over Standard Settings, then click Optimal Quality. Doing so enables 4x FSAA and 16x anisotropic. ;)

Edit: I was wondering why the textures in the game looked so good and also why the fan on my video card kept getting so noisy. Not like the game ever lags though. :D
