I mean seriously - if everyone on the forums bought a copy that'd only be about $56,000. Sure that is a lot better than nothing but it still isn't enough to live off of unless he can keep it coming in from other sources. Honestly if he were trying to make a living, he'd have charged a good bit more than $20. Say $30 to 40.
1) Make more money. Nothing wrong with this. How else will Badspot pay the bills?
2) Makes it less of a headache for support and will be less confusing for users in general.
The first reason is the most important IMO. And I have to whole-heartedly disagree with it being an "unwise" decision. I think it would be a very wise decision. I think the word you are looking for is "not fair to people who expect eveyrthing in life to stay free forever, even though it was announced that the game would be sold over two years ago". Right?
