Help / Re: Server hosting troubles (ping and ports)
« on: November 14, 2016, 08:14:08 PM »
Did it fix the issue?
No, but I waited a few days and redid the port forwarding again and it magically works. I don't think anything I've done had anything to do with fixing it

Blockland servers work when they want to apparently

Help / Re: Cannot join servers with "---" ping as of recently
« on: November 14, 2016, 08:09:54 PM »
Something weird happened with ports, my server just would not work, and I couldn't host. I asked the forums for help and they were extremely helpful but nothing worked, I even redid my port forwarding and no matter my server always had "---" ping. After waiting days and redoing my port forwarding again it just works magically. I noticed some people are having sever problems out the ass and i still don't know why.

But like i said, i gave it time and redid the ports, for some reason that fixed it, unless there wasn't anything to fix in the first place and blockland is just messing up

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/19249/how-to-assign-a-static-ip-address-in-xp-vista-or-windows-7/

To get the numbers you need to enter in the Internet Protocol Version 4, you need to search in start for "cmd" and then type the command:
Code: [Select]
ipconfig /allThen search in the list for the adapter with the most text (ethernet if you are connected through cable, wireless if through wifi).
It should list every single item you need to type.

Then go port forward again and change the ip. (192.168.0.xxx)

To turn off your firewall:
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/disable-windows-firewall

Don't forget to turn it back on once you are done.
Thank you c:

Did you give the server a static IP?
Check if it is changed, and correct your port forwarding if necessary.

It could also be a firewall issue, although doubly.
So temporary turn it off to see if that helps.
I'm not particularly the most tech savvy person around so do you think you could point me to a tutorial on how to do so?

have you tried reinstalling the game?
also, if you have more than one computer in your home, you could try to host the server with another and join it with the one you normally use, and then the other way around if possible. that might help determine whether it's something wrong with this particular computer
Sadly, there's only one computer and that's my computer. I have not tried reinstalling the game yet but I'll do that tomorrow and let you guys know if it works. I've had enough of this issue for today XD

There are no other Blockland processes, I changed the port and everything

The ping changed from --- to ???

My fiance can join once more but I still cannot. The window just says "Sending Challenge Request" over and over like it did.

This is odd

It'll host on a different port if the port is in use. The port sometimes doesn't 'free up' properly even when closing the server.
Try forwarding a larger range than just 28000, and make sure all Blockland processes are killed.
I'll look into it and such, thanks man

If that isn't the case I think it's just one of those issues that fixes itself eventually

Help / Server hosting troubles (ping and ports)
« on: November 06, 2016, 01:38:45 PM »
Ever since yesterday, I have been unable to host. Well, technically, I can host, the server goes up fine, there's nothing odd in the log, and it shows up in the server list, but it has no ping (---) and yesterday I've asked you guys if anyone else was having this issue and it seems that a lot of people are. Yesterday I noticed almost every other server had no ping.

I'm going to explain my situation in hopes that it will help others find a solution because I haven't been able to find one
First off, yes I have port fowarded

Starting with yesterday around midday, I wasn't able to join my own server, I tried connecting through IP and through LAN, no luck. My fiance was initially able to join, flawlessly, he just connects like it's normal business. Although at certain points, it won't allow him to connect. Whenever I try to connect, or he is unable to, it just says something like "sending connection request" over and over, if I didn't word that exactly, you guys probably know what I meant.

So we tried going through and finding a solution, I checked and made sure I didn't have to port foward. I turned the "Disable UPnP" option on and off, and tried connecting with it off, and with it on, no luck. I tried checking what port the server was using, and I got the normal 28000, but then last night and earlier today, it was showing that the port is 28001 in the server list, when it wasn't yesterday. Through the client and the console, it says the port is 28000, but not in the server list when trying to join.

I'm hoping this will fix itself in time as a lot of people seem to be having the same problem, maybe this thread in combination with others will help draw attention to the issue.

Just to clarify, it worked fine everywhere, until yesterday. It stopped working at my house and won't work anywhere since yesterday

I've been having this same problem when prior to yesterday my server worked flawlessly. I still haven't found a solution but I'm continuing to work on it. Everyone thinks it's cause people aren't port forwarding when I know that I have port forwarded.

If I find a fix I'll definitely let you know, but until I do I'm going to assume it's a Blockland issue because one or two people have said it may just be that. I'm guessing it will fix itself in time.

Lizzy, I've reported that comment to the proper authorities.
You've triggered me and now I'm really going to promptly commit Self Delete

12
Or are we actually...
no it can't be.
If anything happens to Blockland I will promptly commit Self Delete seeing as my life will be empty once more

If anyone takes this as anything other than a joke I swear to loving god XD

13
yeah its an issue with some servers. it seems to be a problem on the server side not always accepting connections or sending punch packets.
Yeah like earlier today, almost every single server was unjoinable but it seems better now, I thought i was the only one experiencing this problem

I can't live without my Blockland

14
Well, then maybe his internet hit the stuffter.
Well, he has no problem with the servers other than a lot of them being dead when they normally aren't, and my internet is actually very fast right now, when it's normally very slow and when it is I have no issues hosting or joining servers

I'm just wondering if this is a problem with Blockland that will resolve itself, or if it's on my end, which it doesn't seem to be

15
I already made sure it was not an issue with ports, meaning I have port fowarded and that doesn't seem to be the issue

Plus, other people can join my server
