Gorgeous build, Brickitect. I am super envious of your talent. I've been playing Blockland for a long time and I've never been able to work up building chops like you.

Any chance you'd consider doing some sort of tutorial? Something like "How to not build like a total f*cking noob"? And I say that because I am a total f*cking noob compared to you & some other builders on this forum. But seriously, I'd love some tips on how to do stuff like this.

One more question: Where did you get those little microblocks you used for the detailing on the buildings and for the lamp posts?

Excellent tutorial, sir. Very helpful. I've been playing Blockland for I think almost a decade now and even I haven't mastered everything.

Are you planning to continue this series of tutorials? I'd love to see something like this for, say, event scripting, something I've never been able to wrap my head around. Things like that to help us noobs eventually be able to play Blockland like the pros.

Really beautiful build. Goes to show what this game can really do.

If I may ask, whereabouts might I find those lovely beveled bricks? I've been searching all over the forums, but found nothing.

Very nice work. Interesting choice of ship design too. Not many people go for the Great Lakes Bulk Carrier look. I'm glad to see a change from the standard container ship or Titanic remake.

The interior could use some work; it's not bad as-is, but it's still rather bare & lacking in detail.
You might also lessen the slope of the hull near the waterline. As it is now, it looks like the whole ship could just tip over at any minute.
The forecastle is also way too tall. It should be about even with the aftcastle

Overall, a good build. Not great, but good. 8/10.

O.O Wow... You know, sometimes I forget what Blockland can really do when in the hands of determined, skilled, creative people.

Just how did you do that, man? Were you copying blueprints or just going off reference photos?

@Megaguy: forget YES!!! I have been waiting literally years for those big half arches! Before now they've been a pain in the ass to try & make with slope bricks. I think my interest in Blockland has just been rekindled.

@Conservative: Just wanted to say that I'm really blown away with your work. Very well done, mate.

If I may humbly put forward a request of my own, I've always wanted to see a set of LEGO 9v Train parts, with bricks for track pieces, train wheels & the like.

Not bad at all! Glad to see someone giving some attention to a war that isn't World War II.

A couple things I'd suggest though: Maybe make the battlefield a bit less flat. Remember that "No Man's Land", that is to say the space between the trench lines, was a chewed-up quagmire of mud, ruts & shell-craters, all of which would make running across it a lot harder, and would add a lot more cover to duck into. Maybe add a few such craters, or even a charred tree or ruined house; Something to break up the landscape so it looks more interesting & isn't quite such a duck-shoot for the defenders on either side.

Another thing I'd suggest is adding firing steps to your trenches, steps at the edge of the trench that raise your blockhead just high enough over the edge of the trench that they can shoot something other than the ground, without exposing their entire body.

All things said though, this looks like a good start to a really fun TDM map! Excellent work!

Absolutely fabulous idea, Red. I love that you're willing to post these tutorials for those like myself, who lack the building experience of some of the more epic creators of this community.

Please, keep up the awesome work!

Modification Help / Re: Taking add-on suggestions

If I may put forward a suggestion of my own, here's something I've been wanting to see for quite awhile, and was actually getting ready to make myself because I was sick & tired of waiting for someone else to make it.

Any non-scoped bolt-action rifle, such as maybe...

The German Mauser Gehwerer 98

The British Lee-Enfield SMLE (10 shots to the Mauser's 5)

The Japanese Type 38 "Arisaka" (Considered by expert to be the best bolt-action rifle ever made)

Or, of course, the American Springfield M1903

Any one of these would be great, or even maybe just some generic rifle would be fine... just so long as it doesn't come out looking like crap, ya know? ;P

Modification Help / Music Not Loading
« on: July 30, 2009, 05:06:34 PM »
Hey all, bit of a problem here.

Simply put: I can't seem to load my own music. I've read the instructions on the Add-ons->Music and followed them to the letter. I even converted the music to OGG Vorbis format. Yet, when I go to load my new music in Blackland, it doesn't show up. What's the deal?

Can anyone help me out with this?

Wow... That's possibly the most magnificent build I've ever seen or ever will see (until my own recreation of the Empire State Building, still in the planning stages ;P ).

Seriously though, God I wish I could build like that...
