that gustav looks like the direct hit from tf2, perhaps thats what its based off?

'Tis likely. Though it does not shoot a rocket. It fires what is essentially a medium-calibur tank shell at far faster speeds than a rocket/missile. Also, the rounds are configurable for different targets and distances.

It was an old defense game in which you were a ship defending a planet from ivading forces. The planet is a circle, and you can move freely around it. The enemies would randomly drop upgrades, and you could purchase upgrades between levels...I think...

So, anyone have any clues?

It was tried I think. tended to OVER do maps and crash things.
