ok sorry didn't mean to offend your cringe website for 14 year olds
Yep, I'm totally triggered that you don't know what you're talking about so I corrected you. That was the right conclusion to make, totally. Good job. Does this work on anybody? Curious.

every time it's "bad actors" but it just keeps happening. maybe the forum is for bad actors. have you considered that. just because you like the "videogame subforums" doesn't mean it's actually a good website
Yeah, I don't do the "guilt by association" thing. If you want to argue that, then by your logic BLF should have been shut down as well. 4Chan users have investigateed people infinitely more times, same with Reddit. Remembers the false Boston bomber private investigating? Should we shut down 4Chan? What about Twitter? Facebook? Instagram? Justify to me why we should be able to shutdown websites because of a few starfishs.

i dunno. maybe. I guess the 'why?' is really all that's left.

like If I were in Badspot's position, logical 24y/o me is thinking "okay I should get to the bottom of this and do something about it if I have to" not even for legal obligations but because there is literally the overpowering thought in my mind of the fact that there is an easy access to children via my game and I have some power to MITIGATE it. (not completely prevent it which is important to note). Just seems like it took mountains to be moved for him to even bother, which I dont think is unfair or taboo for people to be upset by. Or to say that he should have had a more active role in these kinds of situations. But idk that's the thing, none of us were in his shoes. Badspot has had his own life experiences and circumstances that have molded his personality and behaviors, as we all have. for all we know he could just naturally be more apathetic to these things for whatever reason through no fault of his own.

I just think it's important for people to really acknowledge that these behaviors were not uncommon and pretty thoroughly ingrained into the community (tbh the internet) at the time. The apathy and inappropriate behavior displayed by moderation/adults was just eaten up and enabled by us kids because we just didn't know any better. Gave some very unfortunate but valuable life lessons to a lot of people growing up. It genuinely surprises me when I see some of the users coming out and saying they barely or never really experienced it.
It's definitely gross and I agree with you, sadly this is one of the many consequences of internet anonymity.

This problem unfortunately is still perpetuating today in many other game communities- ironically Roblox being a prime example. Many, many dramas of adults grooming and trying to be loveual with underage children and teenagers in there. My nephew plays the hell out of Roblox so yeah, it makes my stomach churn.

I myself witnessed creepy stuff happening in some social game on Roblox that had voice chat enabled, guys my age chasing around girls who are teens trying to talk to them with obviously flirty intent. I had a girl who told me she was 14 ask for my Discord and I refused to give it and told her to only talk to people around her age group, adults and beyond trying to connect with you and talk on Discord whether they're a man or woman is weird. Tangent aside these communities in general could do a much better job policing this stuff.

yeah I haven't because I'm not a forgetin loser
You should probably avoid proclaiming things when it comes to subjects you know nothing about.

Care to explain why it's an onion link if they don't have some serious problems internally?
It's an onion link because a person by the name of Clara Sorrenti, AKA Keffals, had a thread about them made on the farms that blew up. Bad actors stepped in and investigateed Keffals and harassed her IRL on multiple occasions. In retaliation Keffals started a campaign online to have Cloudfare drop the farms as a provider... and they eventually caved. The farms then bounced around on the clearnet through a couple other providers, but then turned to .onion as the final solution.

Keffals is basically a professional handicap and victim-card user, but obviously private investigating and all that is inexcusable. IBan did the platform no favors by making no attempt to condemn the act. It does suck because I participated in the videogame subforums a lot and it was fun to browse the crazy stuff happening in the lolcow board, basically the kiwifarms equivalent of our drama board. In all honesty the farms isn't much different from here, a nice forum that fell victim to bad actors on multiple occasions - except it actually caught up with them over there.

literally what in the hell are you talking about. none of this is true whatsoever. kiwifarms isn't a real forum it's a cesspool of people who all hate each other even more than we did and literally no normal internet forum has any of their problems
I take it you've never used the farms because none of what you're describing is true. They have an off topic board, game board, etc, just like we do - except way more users. Well, probably not anymore considering its an onion link now. TOR can forget off

I dont really recall any bans given to these individuals that felt like it was because "this person is a pred" rather than Badspot just being annoyed that he has to ban the same person another time for annoying the community.
I don't know how to quote posts that are old, but from this thread:

He didn't use the exact words you're using but it's close. As for all of the other people I couldn't find anything from Badspot saying they were banned for being a creep. Maybe try sending him an Email asking why? He replies to most emails if I recall correctly

Does anyone know the history of Epliptats becoming a mod? (I have no idea how to spell their name) They seemed fairly mature from what I remember.
Part of the team of original beta testers and close friend IIRC, akin to Rotondo

Yet there were few, if any, documented cases of groomers getting banned which is what this conversation is about.
I used to do this, and you're right. However, it's certainly mitigation and isn't the norm in the new system, especially for groomers which I'll talk about in the next quote. Of course, none of this works if they don't get banned in the first place. Again, I don't think there were many (or potentially any) documented cases of groomers getting banned.
For banned creeps Tenshi comes to mind, NickPB, IBan/Null/Joshua Moon, Pandan(?), Plastiware (dude was literally charged in the court of law), and Stocking may be in this camp as well. A few other known creeps were involved in Brickadia's development and were banned from that... not sure if you count that though.

The only widely known creeps I'm aware of who weren't banned are Racerboy and Otis - but both of these were called out publicly and eventually saw themselves out. Unless there's other people I'm not aware of most of the creepy/groomy people were actually punished for their behavior.

Bisjac having such a proximity or being acquainted enough with Badspot to regularly mention that he would watch his kids.
Don't think this is true, Bisjac was from Minnesota and Badspot is on the east coast somewhere. Bisjac talked out of his ass a lot. IIRC Bisjac actually had a daughter- I remember he posted a picture of her at Mall of America.

What were the Bisjac accusations? I'm unfamiliar, curious to see

why would it be a shock when they've shared multiple times their gender status?
Not everyone may know this person or their post history

Honestly all these types of reactions are from an article that basically just said "in my opinion, some character designs for recent video games are unappealing and unoriginal."
There's far more genuine vitriol and hatred in the responses to an opinion about video games than there ever was in the article itself. Some of ya'll gotta just take some deep breaths before posting.
And it isn't even a wild opinion from uncanny valley, this same subject has been hammered away in articles for years. OP literally formatted this post as if they're denouncing their life-long abusive father, I don't understand the parasocial stuff. It's pathetic. Also, OP is a transmission which should come as a shock to absolutely nobody.

Did you even read my first post?
I read and replied to what I quoted, that's what the quote feature is for.

Do you even know what you're arguing about?
You questioned my reasoning as to why I thought the comparison was not fair to make, so I replied to you by explaining my reasoning.

I'm saying content updates wouldn't help Blockland. There are more interesting things to play nowadays.
You're mistaken, your post I replied to doesn't say anything like that anywhere. Don't question my reading abilities when you're literally imagining you said things that you didn't say lol. I've been courteous enough ignoring the cringe quips you start every reply with.

Comparing Blockland to two games I remember getting very popular after being smaller than Blockland isn't fair comparison?
Yes, all games start small. Again, ROBLOX had Blockland beat within a year of it's release. Minecraft quickly followed suit. These games had large development teams (well Minecraft didn't but this changed quickly) and tons of advertising. You're comparing a mom and pop corner store to Wal-mart. It's not a fair comparison.

Maybe if Badspot turned BL into a survival-crafting game it would have gone big. Imagine chopping trees and mining rocks to get stronger bricks.
I'd rather not play a Minecraft clone, we already had bazillions of them
