Badspot, i found an old guide about adding in a 'setImageState' input for the ShapeBaseImage, how possible would it be to slap that into Blockland while you're figuring out this key situation?

This would be rather cool.

no i want to force people to download textures so they can see prints, custom centerprint bitmaps, and textures on important items such as the playing cards mod for example. nothing else actually matters besides the textures from an actual playability standpoint.

I agree with Brighter Dark here, I know I have suggested it in the past and you have disagreed with me in the past Badspot but it's 2020 I refuse to believe the majority of users do not have a modern internet connection with fast download speeds and quite frankly I think now would be a good time to enable "Download Sounds" by default (perhaps the others but I consider this to be the most important).

You claimed it was to prevent putting new users off by having a long waiting time to join which was fair at the time but now I don't see how it could really take any longer since almost everybody has a decent internet connection.

Aren't new users going to be more frustrated when they join servers and think they are boring because they cannot hear (or see?) certain assets which are vital to the grand experience of the server? Unless I am missing something? can the download speed physically not go any faster is that an engine limit?

Otherwise it seems a bit obsolete to have them disabled by default, practically all other games have downloads enabled by default (Source engine games, gmod/tf2/etc...) which make for an easy and fun user experience without having to constantly remind people "don't forget to turn on download sounds!!!" it should really be the other way around now, users may turn them off if they deem it necessary (I don't know who actually would do this). Yet far more noobs probably don't even realise the option is there and are missing out.

If it really is an engine limit then I can sort of understand.

Intersting. I don't think putting "Admin" feels right in the new column however, you could have multiple admins in your server!

Badspot, I think you should rename that to"server owner" or "server host", something like that so that it makes more sense like in the past it would be "Hostname's freebuild" so you knew that guy was the owner. It also helps if you are looking for a particular host which I know it still functions the same but it would be more intuitive for it to be renamed.

EDIT: It might have to deal with it being steam maintenance day?

The Blockland master server does not rely on steam to work as it is separate and run by Badspot himself so I don't think it would have anything to do with that.

i used to talk to him and he was giving me live updates on this, he knew what to do because he was obsessed with trying to get low digit steam accounts so he used leakedsource to get them, also kompressor's password was really loving bad you wouldn't believe it and he reused it even on the torque website

Interesting, well it's a shame the forum layout still hasn't been fixed and it probably won't be now.

What do you mean "now"? There have always been family men on Blockland but they are very small in number because I don't think many people are actually scared of homos.

There was a new Jail RP server run by Hoster which had a new map he and others had obviously built for it. Why would you want to re-use an old map anyway? People would honestly prefer something fresh.

Unfortunately that server has been down for a week now but maybe it will come back up I quite enjoyed it.

Even if you don't know the band you may have heard it being featured in Joker and besides I like this song anyway so I decided to make a minute long loop of it.

A specific time period that was actually closer to 3 months.
Right, thanks.

That was one of the theories, but I'm pretty sure it was ruled out. That code was 10 digits long and had no rate limiting on checks iirc, which while inadequate, could not account for how quickly the attacker was breaking into accounts.

Sounds like it was open to a good old brute force attack then, you're right the attacker couldn't have possibly known much about the users of old accounts such as Kompressor on other sites, more likely they just looked at who was considered a "high target" but also inactive so they could have a go out without anybody noticing repeated attempts to reset their password.

Never know it could have taken a few days for the attacker to gain access all they had to do was keep at it and once they cracked it they can strike at will. Maybe they gathered a few accounts up to unleash in series (I was gone when this all happened so I don't know, just a guess).

-snip-

I see, I'm curious and have a few questions then if you don't mind.

Was it just a straight 4 months from a particular date or 4 months worth of posts from various years? If the former would you happen to know it?

And as for the exploit, was it that people were managing to gain access to other's accounts?

I haven't been on here for a long, long time. I can see the layout has changed and I heard that something happened which was the reason for the change but can't remember off the top of my head.

Now is it just me or did some historic threads go missing during whatever happened?

Off Topic / Re: Donald Annoying Orange "Protests" 2016

execpt not everyone is holding up that sign. Its a fact in life that some people take things too far; however, the majority arnt saying crude things like that because it defeats the purpose of what were protesting against in the first place.

The fact that somebody in the protest is holding that sign up proves that some of them actually think like that. When you're in a protest what you hold up can be seen by everybody else, you are responsible for what you say on your sign knowing that it will represent your group of protesters.
