General Discussion / Re: 1.6 - Counter-Strike in Blockland

I always prefer maps to be built with bricks, but I know that takes time and I'm assuming this is more about the mechanics and gameplay. I look forward to this nonetheless.

EDIT: In fact, if you're considering making this out of bricks I'd be willing to assist. As long as doing so wouldn't be a one-man project.

This video is the reason I bought Blockland 10 years ago. (Original 5k)

General Discussion / Re: Shift or Ctrl?

But there's a lot of Shift+[key] shortcuts...

Steam users get screwed over by this because of overlay, had to change my overlay key to Scroll Lock since it's essentially useless in my opinion.

If we're talkin' Blockland, then Shift. Any other game Ctrl is my crouch, but C is my toggle crouch.

Not really sure if I made my point clear enough before, but I'll just clarify it. Found this on Google images (please don't sue me :P)

This way of aiming feels a lot more natural, similar to Hotline Miami, whatever that game is above, 12 is better than 6, and other top-down examples.

Great idea for a sort of gamemode by the way, I seem to remember a top-down zombie survival thing being built in BL at some point though? Many moons ago.

The only thing I would say about this is the fact that having the direction that you're facing in the same as normal is quite disorientating. The directional movement is fine but it's more fitting to have the player constantly looking at a crosshair, however this to me sounds out of reach of Blockland but I wouldn't be surprised if that was possible.

Another thing would be the jumping. I'm not sure how I feel about jumping in a top-down perspective, seems kind-of strange. But hey: if it's used in the correct way then this will be great. We need more variety like this.

I quite like it myself! Because you worked with a more compact space you definitely had to be more creative when deciding where to put stuff, and it's cool as an observer to be able to see that (perhaps I like it personally because whenever I build it's generally compact itself).

As for the roof, err the shingles or whatever, the original physically sticks out on top of the columns, and I feel like your version could have something like that because to me it kind of looks like the columns were just stuck onto a building, if that makes sense, because the columns don't really seem like they would actually be supporting anything. It may be more of my personal opinion though.

Yeah, I'm worried about the top. As I was making it I grew less and less sure about it.
I also think I tried to make that slight overhang, you can slightly see it in the picture, but I don't think I let it protrude enough.

I actually technically started building this about 2 years ago, but I decided to remake it because of factors such as building experience and new bricks (these 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 bricks are great!).

EDIT: Ok, there was an attempt to change the top of the building and I'm a bit more satisified with it now.

Not an exact replica, but I made a building based off of 'The Sting' which is in Piccadilly Circus (London, England).
Not too sure how I feel about the top.
