How do things end up on the CDN?
CDN bot joining your server and downloading them, afaik.

Hi,

Brickadia hasn't been released yet. The only reason we even have a public website/discord is because people wanted to invite their friends and we didn't really see a problem with it.

If you'd like to get away from the noise here and follow development on our public server you are welcome to join. We have actual info about the game and a faq in there which answers some of the common questions that are getting posted.

Gotta come here again and clear some things up because I'm being asked some strange questions:
  • Brickadia has 0 players online because it is closed to new testers. The game has not been released, it is nowhere near finished or playable. Comparing it to another game, by one man or no, that was completed at some point in the past is very weird.
  • Vehicles (buildable), in-game brick behaviours, brick effects (lights, emitters, zones etc) and modding are planned and will not be dropped.
  • Brickadia's mod dev kit is nowhere near 100GB in size. This statement is ridiculous. I have the entire developer package on my computer (all source code, textures, .sai files, tools and original blender assets) and it barely reaches past 20GB.
  • Nothing we have proposed has been scrapped due to technical limitations. We make a point to always under-promise and over-deliver with our work. We technically investigate the feasibility of things like buildable vehicles and destruction quite thoroughly before we even let the community hear about them.
  • No, the community is not only blockland players. A sizable portion of even the tester pool have never heard of BL. Sorry.
  • No, it would never cost $60 for a key or $100 for a server license. There will be no ridiculous hidden prices. No prices have been announced, even.
  • No, there is no lawsuit (yes, someone actually asked)

Probably shouldn't be stuffting on the only community who thinks your game is worth a damn, this is a good way to make people not interested in it. You're effectively biting the hands that feed you.
Should probably mention K3 is not a moderator or part of the dev team, his opinions are his own. Not agreeing or disagreeing with either of you, just making sure people know that.

Like I understand you have a game to sell here but this is why "sentiment is strange". You people need to hire a PR guy or something so we know what is actually happening
You're probably right, we'll have to get something sorted when we're ready to market later.

The distinction I was trying to make was between mod support (building the game in a modular way well in advance) and actual modding tools. Tools and systems that non-developers can use, such as what I described above, don't require work in advance, but do take time to come up with.

-snip- 😔

Don't worry guys, mod support is coming at the end of the development cycle
Hello!

This is not a brickadia anim state machine. I have no idea where this is from, it looks like it's from someone's minecraft clone or something. Brickadia's character state machine looks like this:

Sentiment in this thread is strange. The game is absolutely being designed around mod support. Everything is modular, which is why you can already very easily add content as a developer. What we have deferred is preparing an actual mod editor to add content until the "game" is done.

There are a couple of other things we want to do as well:
- Add a scripting engine that people can use instead of blueprint (we've heard that tim sweeny is going to add one at some point within the next few years but assuming no meaningful movement on that we're probably going to have to integrate our own into unreal - which I've done before, by the way, but everybody told me they hate lua)
- Add an object extension mechanism, so that something akin to Torque's packaging system is possible. This would allow you to stick new variables, functions and overrides on existing classes without modifying or replacing the original asset.

These are both large jobs, which is why modding has its own entry in the road map. It just isn't a priority when you have the rest of the base game to build. Hope you can understand.

Hi, I've gotta say something about this.

stolen game assets
We have used, as placeholders:
- Some of blockland's special brick shapes (removed permanantly from the game since tester build 0.3.0)
- Some of blockland's player textures (same situation as above)
- Blockland's stud texture (this is, in fact, a royalty free texture also used in some company logos and also by wikipedia as a normal mapping example)
- Blockland's "load bls finish" sound (plays when you use the bls importer to load a save file, removed with the bls importer since 0.3.0)

At no point have we advertised screenshots or videos of the game while these placeholders were in use. This is one of the main reasons the project is being kept under wraps and we're working tirelessly to get 0.3 ready and tested so we can start marketing our game.

extremely super secretive elitist for literally no reason
I'm not sure where you got this idea from. The server is private for the reasons discussed above. We do not want unfinished work plastered across the blockland forum.

allows certain POPULAR blockland users ONLY
10% of the testers have never heard of blockland, and more than half of the server's population, including some people posting here, don't actually have build access and are just there to follow development. There are people in here that are disinterested by blockland and have never played it, but like how we've revamped the graphics and build controls in our videos. How exactly would making a policy of letting a lot of popular people in help with keeping a low profile?

and rids of users only THEY deem annoying.
This isn't something we do at all and makes it sound like you broke one of our clearly defined rules (see #rules) and got thrown out. We are incredibly passive moderators (we happen to have something more important to do), so congratulations. Is that what this is about?

kenko uploaded and then privated a video of a BL remake in UE4, just take my word for it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzG8s5ZIp_4
it seemed to have good building features and a considerable amount of bricks, as well as a feature that let you build a line or maybe an array of bricks at once (eg a whole line of fences), a bedroom-ish map with secrets, death ragdolls, particle effects, tools (seemingly only a hammer), and the players looked like the beta BL player

appearances included a player named "reft" who i assume is refticus, but i don't remember anyone else
the video title was just "test"
idk if this is already common knowledge but eh
please do not leak brickadia content

This is going pretty well. I'm currently tweaking the rules of how you get different lands (you can only place grasslands, hill and ocean) but I think what I have right now is a good demo.
