whatever the forget those things are called (someone tell me so I don't look like an idiot-

I think the word you're looking for is "gazebo" :)

I love a lot of the details of this build. The fireplace and first bathroom in particular really jumped out at me as being well-crafted. Fantastic work.

You can claim whatever you want, but I'm totally willing to accept that OP is a complete loving moron without further proof.

The internet just makes me quite skeptical. Sure, there might be reasonable explanations for a few points...but it would just have to be the perfect storm of stupidity for this to happen as it has.

Yeah reading through this again, this is a load of stuff.

1. How do you do "7K at LEAST just to the car" via a misstep on the pedal? Were you driving a Lamborghini?

2. How do your parents not know you're taking their (obviously not cheap) car out in the early morning? Do they never look at their odometer, gas tank, position of the car?

3. How are you obtaining alcohol at FOURTEEN? Do you live in the trashiest town in existance?

4. It has to be a school day. What do you do at school if you're out in the early morning getting drunk? Do none of your teachers say anything about you visibly being tired/drunk/hungover?

5. Your mother was home, asleep. You tell her you just did thousands of dollars worth of damage to a car and the house. She hits you and then...? You get back to posting on forums? What? How are you not STILL being screamed at?

6. Furthermore, why the forget are you on the forums in the first place? Who does something horrible like this and immediately goes to inform the internet?

Under Internet law, I am declaring a "pics or GTFO" contingency. Any replies by original poster (OP) are to be declared "total bullstuff" until evidence of said damage is shown to members of the forums. This includes claims of "I don't have a camera".

And either way you're still a moron.

You're 14. Driving drunk. In the early morning. On a school day. And your parents know and still let you have access to a computer? You either have the most neglectful and stupid family in the world (yourself included) or you're full of stuff. Take your pick.

imgur...there are no ads anywhere.

As much as I love imgur, that is false. There ARE minor ads on the non-hotlinking pages. Much less of a pain in the ass than imageshack and Photobucket for sure, but they are there.

I've never used it before, but I've heard decently good things about Minus. The file size limit is 2GB, but you have to sign up for a free account if you want them to last for more than 30 days.

It's totally worth the $2,000 pricetag.

Oh man, you must have gotten the super-awesome version with the SSD. Mine's only $1100 new (though I got it free via Best Buy being a company of massive forget ups)

I'll bite: what's really the difference, besides price point? I got into gaming laptops because I sometimes have to move from place to place and hauling a desktop with me is out of the question. It's simply a matter of having less to transport.

On a sidenote: G74Sx - best laptop I've ever owned. The price was right and it kicks the stuff out of any game I throw at it, plus it doesn't generate a ridiculous amount of heat like the old Asus G51 did. Only downside is that it weighs a ridiculous 9 pounds :V

I didn't think that first one was actually a screenshot until I saw the next pic. Very nice work for being done without scripting. Also, sergals! \:D/

General Discussion / Re: What was the first add-on for Retail Blockland?
« on: February 13, 2012, 07:20:47 PM »
I might just be crazy, but I think the first add-on was a vehicle. I can't remember who made it but it was a crappy looking Audi convertible that was ported from v0002, probably just for the sake of being the first add-on.

Luckily, I appear to never delete any files off my computer. I need to clean that downloads folder at some point...

My obscure tutorial helped someone! \o/

My work here is done.

Where the hell have you been?

Mostly not signed into my account! :P I pop in and out from time to time, but I don't really have much to say, so I just hide in the shadows.

Reading through a bit more of the thread, on suggestions of there being some sort of block terrain generator that can do most of the dirty work? I'll be much more for this update if there ends up being one. Just my 2 cents.

Oh lord. I can't say I really want to read 28 pages of discussion so I'm just gonna toss my bit in here.

The new lighting looks fantastic. And I'll concede that terrains and interiors are pretty ugly. But I'm going to miss them dearly. I dunno about everyone else, but I've always had trouble working with slate maps because of a lack of inspiration. My fondest memories come from a map whose name escapes me, which had ugly low-res water, neon-green grass and trees that didn't always work right...but it was a map I could explore and have ideas spring to mind based on what I was looking at. With pure slate, that creative spark is much more difficult to find.

While I do believe that we need to move on beyond the current flawed terrain and interiors system, leaving them without a real replacement does not feel right. Pure bricks does not currently make an acceptable substitute. Vehicles and skis still interact somewhat poorly with them, and making brick terrain is tedious and takes much time.

Regardless, I'll look forward to this update. It'll be fun to load up old saves and see them in a new light :) (bah dum tish)

Help / Guide to fixing the Asus G74Sx numpad
« on: December 27, 2011, 12:54:44 PM »
Howdy all, I composed this guide for anyone with an Asus G74Sx that runs into this issue. A bit obscure, but if it helps save one other Blocklander searching the forums (or a couple Googlers) from hours of troubleshooting...

Now, the Asus G74Sx. A gaming powerhouse! Excellent specs across the board, except for one major design flaw: The number pad does not work like an actual numpad should. The numpad on this laptop simply duplicates the functionality of the top row of numbers.

In Blockland, you'll find this makes you unable to use the numpad to place blocks, instead selecting through your inventory. This is also a major problem in other games: in DCS flight sims, you can't look around the roosterpit; in Dwarf Fortress, you can't use it for navigation; for many trainers (such as in GTA4 or Just Cause 2), you will be unable to use many options. I would love to know who at Asus greenlighted this design on a laptop specifically marketed at gamers.

However, do not fret. Asus has released a BIOS update for the G74Sx that makes the numpad have proper functionality. I will detail how to install it here:

1. Scroll down and download "G74SX BIOS 203" in this link: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?1150-G73-74-53-Series-Driver-and-Application-Reference

NOTE: DO NOT USE THIS UNLESS YOU ARE USING THE ASUS G74SX!!! Flashing the wrong BIOS will do very bad things to your computer. MAKE SURE you have this specific model. The utility probably won't let you flash it wrong, but don't test it unless you want a large, expensive paperweight.

2. Unzip G74SxAS203.zip. Put the file G74SxAS.203 onto a flash drive.

3. Reboot your computer with the flash drive still plugged in.

4. As it boots back up, on the Asus splash screen repeatedly tap F2 until the BIOS options come up.

Note: if you have an external monitor plugged in, the splash screen and BIOS will appear on there, not your laptop screen. Bizarre, but still works fine.

5. Using the arrow keys, scroll right to "Advanced" and then down to "Start Easy Flash". Press enter.

6. On the resulting screen, you should see "G74SxAS.203" listed in the right box. Select it with right arrow, then hit enter. Select "yes" on the prompt.

7. Watch the progress bars roll by. Once it's done flashing, it will shut down. Turn your laptop back on and your numpad should now work correctly in Blockland and for other games!

I hope this helps somebody out. This has been giving me problems for the 3 months I've owned this laptop and I just came to the epiphany last night on how to fix it. Good luck!
