General Discussion / Re: Ads on the forum

Wow what the forget Badspot, you put advertisements on the main website? That looks like the ugliest stuff in the world, its like you’re just begging for money. Even poorer indie game developers retain the dignity of not putting advertisements on their sites. I used to look up to you but it seems that you are just acting like everyone else.

Oh sweet, you add a nice cool header/border for the advertisement but haven’t touched the headers/borders for anything else in the website for years.

General Discussion / Re: RTB and Steam

He's mad because his hosting service isn't working out too well compared to RTB's
oh and because he's banned from General Discussion for doing dumb stuff
Working out? I thought his hosting service was free or something? Anyways for RTB to become part of Blockland by default (IMO) it should be owned/maintained by Badspot rather than a 3rd party (Eph.).

I believe Rotondo and Kompressor help as well. However, I believe that Kompressor only works on things that have to do with editing/changing the main engine. Rotondo basically performs the same tasks as Badspot does.

um
Why do you think we'll have any of this? Most greenlit games don't. Sure it's optimist but it's dumb to make a topic using them as your argument,
Badpsot said in his last stream they would like to have Achievements or I think that they may even be required to have one. As for trading cards I believe he mentioned those but I don't remember if they were going to make those or not. Rotondo joked around saying "you place a brick, you win".

Even if Steam does overtake RTB, I would still hope RTB will still be around just for the sake of having choices.

You're forgetting a couple of things.

1. Not everyone will play Blockland on Steam (including myself)
2. RTB is more than just addon hosting and friend chatting, it has a colorset preview, addon-management, addon preferences, and I believer Super Admins/Admins are also part of RTB or is that default?
3. It will still remain the only way to download things in-game (unless Badspot adds a page that links to the workshop in game, similar to how GMod has it).

Development / Re: 2013/08/28 - Blockland has been greenlit!

Blockland on Steam on Ubuntu.
Just what I needed.
EDIT: Wait what why is there no Blockland port for Ubuntu.
Maybe in the future when Badspot gets more money.

:panda:
So since the initial release of Blockland up until yesterday no ads ever, now we will have ads? What's up with this? Is Badspot not making enough or jus wants to get extra? We for get on steam for about 9 months, no ads, we get greenlit and then now we have ads? I don't understand.

This is just my opinion but I would never put ads on my website.

EDIT: already maybe it's not a bad idea...

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Prop Hunt Gamemode

You can code static shapes to snap,
I know that they bricks were static shapes, I probably misread his post
wot
Lol, whoops I have no idea how scented got in there. I meant "evented". For the bricks/objects snapping to the grid, couldn't you just let the people try and blend with the grid/enviroment?

I don't think you guys have noticed but multiple people can have the same name on Steam. However if you are referring to the fact that Blockland when on Steam wil auto input the Steam username as the BL username then maybe you are correct, however I doubt it because other games such as Blacklight use a seperate username and even passwors for their game.

I didn't read all of the posts so someone may have covered this already but couldn't you make 3d models of things and place it in the map and then make playertypes of those same models? You could have the models scented (automatically) so that for a certain team when clicked it changed their Playertype.

It was, back when you could overwrite the textures and the game wouldn't replace them with the default textures, you would be the only one who saw those textures
You sure? I don't see how the launcher not replacing the textures would make it so other people could see it, I thought it was always server sided.

I don't think so and however I wouldn't really want it to be client sided..well actually it would be fine (I'm thinking about minecraft and see through textures but the bricks in BL are opaque unlike Minecraft). I mean it could be possible maybe....? Idk I have no idea really.

General Discussion / Re: Are drones possible to be made in Blockland?

Wow you guys are saying its pretty easy and are already stating "hacky" or maybe normal methods of creating this. That's pretty neat, I didn't know it was possible.
