General Discussion / Re: Blockland Online and Blockland Glass

If you do can you move the server list over? I prefer it to the one on blockland.us since I quickly google what servers are up before bothering to turn my PC on.

I used to have 2 side by side desks with my ancient PC on one and my work setup on another. I can't use my own for work so I like this solution of being able to swap out and dock the razer laptop/work laptop quickly whenever needed on the one setup.

Some people may come back when they see some servers come back online. I open Blockland up most days wanting to play it but close it if I don't see anything I want to play.

wouldn't that be "less than or greater than"? i read it as (less than (greater than 20))
It you read it like that sure. It could also have been read <> 20. My point was it's very easy to work out what OP meant.

"less than greater than 20 servers" is logically equivalent to "there are any number of servers"
seems like a strange statement to make
It doesn't include exactly 20 if you're going to be pedantic about it.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Missing my own server's save file.
« on: May 09, 2020, 05:36:27 AM »
I always found recuva to be a great program for recovering stuff. The deep scan can take a while especially on a damaged disk but it does a good job at finding and recovering lost files for the most part. If some other component in the laptop is preventing it from booting but the hard drive is fine then you have nothing to worry about your data is still there, sometimes even a corrupt or missing operating system file can prevent your PC from booting but the personal files are usually still there.

do what trog said and try to find some sort of external usb to internal laptop HDD adapter if you need one. Find a way to make it a secondary and nab the .bls

You can get SATA docks for this for like $20 online. I've had mine for years and it has saved me/family/friends on several occasions. You just mount the drive to the dock then connect the dock via USB and you're good to go.

The small disagreement was the think twice thing. The rest of the post was explaining why I don't agree with it.

Morals are not something you just have and give yourself. They are instilled in you, the only way to have them is to believe them constantly; even in any form of doubt when they are tested. Your hypothetical is basically saying that in the mix of it you can't continue following your morals, you either don't believe enough or just don't want to.

I'm in no place to say you are a good or bad person, but you certainly stepped up; just later than you should have.

I think the final thing I could say is that when you are in bouts of depression and trauma, those are the best times to evaluate yourself, and your surrounding peers. Those are the greatest times to see if you believe in what you say you believe. I hope next time if you are ever in a situation like this again you think twice about cause and effect.
Feel like this response was almost perfect. I have a small disagreements though.

Moral code is something that one should believe and follow, but it is driven by an emotional response to a situation. When you reach a point of not caring, this becomes much more difficult to judge. In your head you can logically deduct what you probably should do and how people will react, but when you have no emotional response to how it can negatively effect people, then giving into temptation can come very easily. I can empathise with this because it has something I have struggled with before, and anyone else who has could probably tell you the same. Its just less likely that others have the skillset or opportunity available to them to do what Comp has done. Most others would probably just go on a banning spree or something on a server.

Comp clearly has a "moral code" as he confessed what he did and has tried to make it right, but everyone telling him to "think twice next time" isn't going to do anything really. He mentioned feeling lonely and abandoned which has led him to the despair and there might be others reasons. The best way he can help himself is the confront those issues as best he can. I don't know the guy so I can't really offer advice on how to do that, but if he can through family/friends/rehab/whatever, then it won't be a case of having to think twice, he just won't make the bad choice. Asking someone to think twice when they don't care won't make a difference.

Not defending what he did, just felt like I needed to make the point.

I live alone and have had to work from home for the past 7 weeks. I haven't spoken to someone face to face since then. Not sure if I've gone completely insane or just adjusted to the situation quite well.

The company I work for introduced a company wide mandatory work from home policy earlier today. Its set indefinitely and will be reviewed on a week by week basis.
