no you are misunderstanding my core point which is that it's war. wars usually start when a country breaks a treaty, etc, which means they aren't following the laws to begin with. do you see what I mean?

for example: using weather modification as a weapon in war is "illegal" under international law - but if a country goes to war and wants to win by any means necessary they are probably going to violate that rule anyways.
okay but ladios was saying "illegal" as in "violates US law", not as in "violates international law"

honestly i have had issues with receiving SMS on google messages as well, it happened when i accidentally did not pay my phone bill, when i paid it and it reactivated, RCS was broken until i found the convoluted fix on reddit a few weeks later.

I would look for an open source SMS app, have you tried that?

in a two party system like this, i feel like the democrats are literally forced to gerrymander in retaliation just to keep things fair.

i have seen some democrat politicians say "yes we are doing this, but we are happy to negotiate mutual fair redistricting with republicans if they are willing to come to the table" which seems totally reasonable to me.

i'm pretty sure there are more red states than blue states (the blue states are more populous though from what i understand) so a stalemate where both parties gerrymander as  much as possible ultimately benefits republicans more because they will control more state legislatures, which puts them closer to making constitutional amendments.

if you actually want power and want to change things you need to fight as dirty as they do sometimes

yes i have seen a variation of this scam before targeting counterstrike players. they will copy the profile of one of your friends, but conspicuously they will have very few mutual friends usually, basically it will look like your friend removed you by accident or something unless you dive deep, then they'll ask you to sub in for a counterstrike tournament match and send you a fake faceit login page

my first forum account was made in december 2007, so probably a month or two before that.

i remember i saw some cool video of somebody skiing on the roof(?) of bedroom or something, or outside the window maybe, and that made me really want the game.

you can filter searches by date on youtube and i am surprised at how much blockland machinima there was in 2008 :0 I found a comment I left on one of these from 18 years ago  :cookieMonster:

I would support a total Swholli buyout of the Blockland property tbh

I have no recollection of that thread but apparently I did vote for you in 2016 so none of this is my fault.

Democracy may be dead, but that hasn't stopped certain political organizations from harassing me about voting. I am once again receiving threatening messages from these ghouls to try to scare me into voting. The other day, they sent me an image which was a list of the real first and last names of me and everyone who lives in my house, followed by the message "Is there anyone missing from this list?" They told me that all of these people are registered voters who live at my address, but their "records indicate" there might be a secret other person living in my house who is not registered to vote and I should persuade them to GO VOTE. I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out how mass data collection has spiraled so far out of control that there is now a fictional data ghost constructed entirely out of erroneous assumptions living in my house. Then I figured out what happened: The name missing off the list is my father. He hasn't voted since 1996 because he has been dead since 1996. But by all means, I'll be digging up his lazy, democracy-hating old bones immediately so he can do his part. Annoying Orange and the death of democracy are his fault, after all. I should have gotten on his ass sooner.
if you really cared youd be doing voter fraud with his identity to #BackTheBlue

Somewhere around there was a script that entirely removed someones post, probably needs to be worked on though if someone can find it.
https://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=182626.0

The ignore script seems to be gone from the internet now. It's probably better to just rewrite the script though because I imagine it won't work with SMF 2.

i want to visit japan so bad. whats the learning curve to be able to enjoy it? i don't want to be a bad tourist but japan strikes me as the kind of place you definitely need to know some stuff about before you go
there are a bunch of rules you wanna know but people also exaggerate them too much sometimes. like some people will tell you you arent supposed to "eat while walking" but i think its only if it would be messy

the thing is, if you break the rules people are most likely just gonna silently judge you, they generally arent very confrontational, so you probably wont even know if you did something wrong

i will just rattle off everything i remember
- take off your shoes before you go into someone's house, or a bathhouse, your hotel room, etc. usually there will be an entrance area where you can take them off
- youre supposed to be quiet on public transit, like dont take a phone call but quiet conversation isnt a big deal. just match the vibe of the train car/bus i guess. also eating is generally not okay especially if it has a strong smell. (its okay to eat on the shinkansen though it's very common)
- obviously dont litter but also keep in mind that there aren't many public trash cans and you will probably have to carry all of your trash back to your hotel. you can find trash cans in convenience stores sometimes but not always.
- the polite/formal way to hand people stuff or receive stuff is with both hands
- dont stand in the way in public
- dont take up more space than you need to on the train
- dont take identifiable photos of people without their permission. dont think it matters if they are just in the background of your torii gate selfie or whatever
- tipping is not expected and can actually be considered rude

there are a billion reddit threads and articles about this you can figure it out on the way there. this is pretty comprehensive

I went to Japan a few weeks ago and it was great. My favorite part was all the small jazz bars in Tokyo. Before the trip I learned about a free jazz guitarist named Takayuki Kato and during the trip I went to one of his shows. It was just me (huge white American guy wearing full denim) and like seven middle aged Japanese hipsters in this tiny bar. You could tell they were really confused why I was there because it was only advertised in Japanese afaik. After the show they were all super curious and friendly and I bought one of his CDs and gave him my bandcamp link.

On another night I wound up at a jazz night that turned into an open jam session. I wanted to hop on the drums but it took me too long to work up the nerve so I didn't get the chance. The drummer was pretty good at English and we had a cool talk. She gave me her business card which is apparently a common thing in Japan

I'm going back next year with a different group and I'm gonna try to get to some kind of conversational level of speaking before then. I think what I like the most about travel is meeting people and it's pretty hard there since the culture already quite introverted. I had a layover in Hong Kong both ways and it was much easier to meet people

So, uh, this has gotten way farther than I had originally anticipated:

Tom's Guide

Techradar

MSN

More Perfect Union

Yes, actually. And funnily enough I've been telling everyone on social when they ask, I learned how to argue persuasively from being in threads exactly like this one, on this forum, since I was 14 lol

The BLF has had exactly zero positive impact on me except for the fact it taught me how to have a thick enough skin to stand up to people when I disagree. Wherever you are, OtisDaHousekat, you creep starfish, you unintentionally gave me this gift.

When this inevitably leads to me winning the 2028 election, I'm going to pass sweeping legislation that will Make Blockand Great Again. Every man, woman, and child will have a state issued BLID. We're going to replace the Social Security card, it's outdated.

See now my only question is, if this really has gone like viral viral, do you think Sam Altman has heard my name? Or what's even more possible because he's running for governor as pro-datacenter, do you think Vivek Ramaswamy has heard my speech? Does this legally entitle me to challenge him to a fist-fight on the statehouse lawn?
Damn you cooked so hard. Very well written and delivered

Even Melania Annoying Orange made a statement trying to distance herself from the Epstein situation saying that she basically didn't know what Donald Annoying Orange was getting her into

This is so out of left field, it makes it seem like they are trying to get ahead of some blackmail leak. It seems very likely that Israel is blackmailing him to stay at war with Iran.
