The door frame is too exotic for this type of build. I suggest just 2 1x5s around the door with a 1x6 on top.
Meh, too boring. The house is literally just a rectangular prism with some square holes in it, I had to do something fun with it.

Oh and also, the red bricks don't quite fit in.
Red in large amounts would clash horribly with the teal siding, but without a dash of complementary color it just isn't visually exciting.

Just downloaded siba's Slanted Bricks today and decided to doodle around. As you can see they're perfect for vinyl siding and my bushes look atrocious. Is there anyone who has some cool foliage who'd be willing to help a brother out?

Build is 12x24 minus the staircase and bushes.

Other bricks used:
siba's Decorative Bricks
Trader's JVS Windows and Doors
King Tinks' One Random Brickpack

Add-Ons / Re: [UPDATED] Tier+Tactical 2.1 • New for the New Year!

Try getting the Critical Hit Emote on RTB.
That worked! Thank you! Is there any reason in particular that this fixes it?

This, and make sure you enabled the gun to work.
And the rocket launcher too.
Like I said above, it's working now, but what does this mean? If I hadn't had them enabled how would I do that?

Add-Ons / Re: [UPDATED] Tier+Tactical 2.1 • New for the New Year!

I'm having quite a few problems with the guns. If I do a fresh install of BL, install RTB, and then extract the guns into the Add-Ons folder they'll work. However as soon as I start adding other things into the Add-Ons folder (things like new bricks, JVS Content, Fillcan, Duplicator; *not* other weapon files) they break. All of the ammo items disappear from the list of spawnable items, most reload animations are broken, some sounds don't play, some guns stop firing projectiles or become undroppable... The whole thing turns into a mess.

What is causing this? I'm including my Add-Ons list below. I'm at my wits end trying to figure this all out.

Help / Blockland Crashes Frequently (Mac)
« on: February 25, 2012, 04:32:29 AM »
Just installed Blockland again after almost a year of hiatus. Love that I won't have to download another version of Blockland again, all hail the auto updater and Blockland Launcher, etc. etc. Problem is that now I'm crashing fairly often (screen freezes and pinwheel starts spinning, I end up having to force quit the program) and other weird things have been happening (takes forever to authenticate, server list stops updating midway through and I have to relaunch several times to get it to work again, random crashes while loading servers)

Anyway, here's my console.log file. Any help would be appreciated.

Like I said earlier, it reminds me of Dan Jassim's Space Tanker. Also a little of this, and a bit of this.

Great work.

The downed power lines are what makes this build really stand out. Good job.

How can you be against global warming? Do you think that by ignoring it you'll make it go away?

Additionally almost all of the errors in your list are provably false. You don't cite any real sources or give us any links.  Just saying "JUDGE:" doesn't work, not in the real world anyway.

Hope you continue to have fun with your ignorance!

Help / Re: 4x Water Brick will not appear.
« on: September 16, 2009, 12:18:04 AM »
Just tried this and inadvertantly solved my problem. :)

Copied everything, and while in the proccess of naming the new .zip folder I found that the author had included a space in between '4x' and 'Water' (Check the screenshot, that's what makes the 'Water' drop to a new line in the filename). Replacing the space with an underscore fixes it.

Problem -Resolved-

Thanks!

Help / 4x Water Brick will not appear.
« on: September 15, 2009, 11:46:34 PM »
So I'm trying to get the 4x Water Brick for a build I'm doing. The problem is that no matter how many times I restart Blockland or re-download the file it simply won't show up in the Add-Ons checklist.

Here's what I'm talking about:

It's the first .zip file in the folder.

It should be appearing above Brick_Arch, but it isn't.

I downloaded it on my younger brother's computer and it worked just fine. Yet every time I try it on mine it simply won't show up. My current theory is that having Blockland installed to the D:\ drive might be causing this, but all of my other add-ons work just fine, so I'm at a loss as to why it's only this one that's fsck'd up.

Can anyone help me?

Faces, Decals, Prints / Re: SkiMask Version 3
« on: July 03, 2009, 11:39:39 AM »
Eighteen decals for one theme? I think that's a record.

If this is going to be included with the game/recommended for being included, I suggest you cut it down a little. The "outlined" ones and mouth/non-mouth versions are almost exactly the same, some of them could be removed.
While I agree that the regular and stitched masks are virtually the same there are some people who like the original better, and since I'm all about variety I'm inclined to let it stay.  Plus, the last six masks were made by my little brother, and I can let him usurp me! :P

Is that praise or an accusation?

@Blockoman: It's an interesting idea, and I might be able to work it in to the zombie infested town, but I'm more interested in stand alone ideas. Places that will look at home in the wilderness of the Slopes and be interesting enough to make the player create their own backstory.  The tugboat is a great example of this.

Brick count without the bunkers is 8885, but that includes two more houses that were built since the time that the pics were taken.

Also, and I don't know how I forgot this, but we are also taking suggestions for new locations.  Even if you don't want to submit your own build, you can still have a hand in the creation of this map!  Suggest away!

Gallery / Zombie Build: a WIP
« on: June 18, 2009, 05:23:03 PM »
This is a project that my brother and I have been working on sporadicly for the past few months; since about February or March.  Total build time on the entire thing is probably no more than 14 hours, but the idea has been ricocheting around in our brains for a while.

The Grand Idea goes something like this:
  • Points based economy wherein zombie kills are the only way to gain points; weapons cost a set amount and subtract from the players overall score each time they buy them; and vehicle spawns cost a one time charge (Amount of charge dependent on the type of vehicle) to first spawn a vehicle and then half that amount to re-spawn it.
  • Good, interesting builds that encourage the player to create their own backstory about what happened, as well as some clues vague enough to allow for player imagination.
  • A possible Class based weapons system if the current "weapons cost a set amount and subtract from the players overall score each time they buy them" thing doesn't work out. (This idea is for pansies so don't encourage it)

So yeah, that's the devious scheming behind the map.  Here are the actual builds:

The military command post/spawn area: Hastily constructed out of pre-fab pieces, these buildings are the military's only foothold in the Zombie Apocalypse
More Pictures: [1] - [2] - [3] - [4] - [5] - [6] - [7]

The view from inside the Command post when you spawn: To the right are the TV monitors (All evented so that you can turn them on and off), and to the left are server racks since the Zombie Apocalypse requires a lot of processing power. Directly ahead are the computery things, and around the corner resides the uniform rack and the Vehicle Spawn Key.

This is the armory where players will be able to purchase their weapons.

This just shows the start of some of the landscaping we plan to do to make this a more immersive map.

This is one of the two, now defunct, bunkers that used to tie into another location on the map that was deemed unfeasible and destroyed. They will not be included in the final version, but they were nice builds, so I include them here.

A small shelter where players can rest on their way in between major defensive areas.

The good ship Marie MacIssac, a tugboat beached and rent in two.  What caused this calamity? I dunno, but a few of the previous survivors were kind enough to fashion a crude stairway and a bridge out of Packer's Props, linking the two halves and making it supremely defensible.

The engine of the Marie MacIssac, I really like how the Wheel Prop looks here and I don't want to hide my genius away behind a link. :P

These are the beginnings of a small zombie infested town that is currently the WIP portion of the build.  The red baseplates are for ease of duplication.

But wait, there's more!  In the interest of completion (and of laziness) I am tentatively opening the topic up for people to submit their own original builds for POSSIBLE inclusion in the build.  I will decide who and what gets included.  To speed the process up here are the rules:

  • New builds only.  Don't go looking through your saves list for things you'd like to throw in.  *All* builds must be built ONLY for the purposes of this map.
  • Builds may only be submitted by their creator. None of this "Well ___ isn't on right now, but I know that he'd like to have his build included." stuff.  If you didn't build it then don't submit.
  • One picture per build. I've picture-spammed enough already as it is, I don't care how great your build is, if you include more than one image of it in your post then it is automaticly disqualified. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Make them good, make them fit the theme.  If your gonna spend time building something make sure that it's worth it.  Take a step back and ask yourself: "Is this as good or better than the existing builds?" If the answer is "No" then rebuild it, if it is "Yes" then show it to someone else and have them take a look at it.  More than likely the answer is probably "No"
  • Be prepared for failure.  I'm only looking for a few select builds to include, so even if I get a lot of equally amazing submissions I won't be able to include them all.  Conversely, if I get a lot of bad submissions I won't include any.
  • Have fun with it!  This is more important than all of the other rules combined.  The only reason I'm doing this is so I can continue to be lazy and because I appreciate the BL community enough to know that there are much better builders out there who might be able to lend a hand. I might not accept your build, but so what?  At least you can look back on your build with pride while plotting your revenge and my inevitable downfall, right?

Have fun, and Good Luck!

The rest of you feel free to offer any constructive criticism you may have.  And please: no X/10 ratings, those are spammy and require no thought whatsoever.  Intelligent comments only please.

EDIT: We are also accepting suggestions from you with regard to new locations that you'd like to see on the map. Even if you don't submit a build you can still contribute to the creation of this map!
