General Discussion / Old custom maps gone

Forgive me, i've had a brief look round various forum sections but i cannot find any answers to this. No-one else seems to be mentioning this either so i think i'm just missing something somewhere...

After running Blockland, and letting it auto update to v9, i have lost some of my own custom maps. I saw no options for backing anything up while it was updating (was it all automatic?) and i have looked thru my blockland folder for archived files and found none. My saves are intact but i have lost some maps.

So the question is... Were they backed up ? Where are they stored ?

Some of you may have seen my ubercube in progress but i don't recall posting about it here yet or at least not posting pics.

This is a test build, 3x3 rooms with Grimsy stood on top for scale (thx)


I did have a macro for the rooms which was 250 or so events and 30 bricks, but i've managed to optimise this to 20 bricks and just 59 events !! And the rooms are bigger...

"What does that mean, so what, its only 10 bricks!?", you might say.

Well, 10x10x10 rooms at 30 bricks each = 30,000 bricks. Add the door fills, floor fills and outer wall fills and the usual tunnels and flashy stuff, and this would have been a 35,000 brick build. Too many i thought, so i started a redesign.

Now it'll be about 25,000 instead which is still a lot but i'm sure you'll agree a saving of 10,000 bricks is definately worth the extra effort.

The resultant maze will be fully 3D. There will be dead ends, twists and turns and will not be as simple as floor1, go up, floor2, go up etc. It'll include many ups and downs and should be a tough challenge when complete. Wall huggers need not apply :)

Gallery / Ubermaze Reloaded

Its back, bigger and better than before. For those that have seen it before, you'll recognise this new build. Its mostly a clone, but it IS bigger and looks so much more funky with some fire and lasers added around the place :) The spawn is different and theres some tweaks here and there so stop by the server and check it out. Especially if you've not seen it before. Stay a while, stay forever :0)



















Servers up right now too, but you might have to wait for spaces to become free. Feel free to rate if you wish, but i understand as a build it doesn't look fantastic. Its being in the thing thats the fun. Enjoy.

Help / Brick Saving by clients

I recall that ownership was planned in the saves but a bug forced removal at least for now.

My current maze build may prove popular and i'd like to keep it to myself, run it in my server, and keep control of it. With the way people can save bricks currently it wouldn't take long for it to be appearing in many different servers. It would no longer be mine then or be unique.

Basically, is admin only saving planned, or some form of "you can't save my bricks but you can save your own" planned for a future update ?

General Discussion / The Uber Server

Running AiO-r v3.1 server today for the next few hours. Will be running Uber Maze and Uber Office in turn if you wanna pop along and see it in person. (so to speak).

Server name will be "Hitm4ns Uber Office/Maze"

You can't have weapons in the maze or build. It'll be in spectate mode, but you should come along and give it a try. Its the toughest maze i've seen in blockland so far. Thats a challenge btw. Make a badass maze...

If its the Office thats loaded then you simply choose an empty room and build something cool. You can't paint or destroy whats already built. Come along with your cool ideas...

General Discussion / new forum and options ?

Badspot. The one great thing about virtually every forum i visit is the ability to click a "view all new posts" button. Seems this forum doesn't have one ? I was hoping that maybe it could be added as a plugin, or maybe turned on in your forum control panel ?

Other than that, seems a nice clean tidy design.

Might be an idea to enforce a max page width though. To avoid problems like in the aio thread with the screenshots.

Anyway, glad you got a board back up and running.
