Prologue Part 1Nowhere IslandsLocation: Beyond the Sunshine Forest, Alec's cabinBang! Bang! Bang!"C'mon Lucas, how long're ya gonna sleep?!" shouted a familiar voice. "The Dragos brought their babies over! They're really cute! C'mon!" he heard again. "Ugh... It's too early, Claus... Lemme sleep fer like... five more minutes..." mumbled Lucas. He did really like Dragos though, he felt that they were protective. Deciding to let Claus have his way again, he rubbed his eyes, rolled out of bed, and looked at his dresser mirror.
Same crazy bed-head as always, he thought.
Lucas shuffled drowsily down the stairs to the kitchen where his mother, Hinawa, was eating one of her delicious omelets. She had long, flowing chessnut-brown hair, emerald green eyes, and a simple red dress. She spotted Lucas out of the corner of her eye. "Well, look who's up, mister sleepy-head," she said. "Are you going to go play with your brother? He scarfed down his omelet faster than usual, he must've really wanted to play with the Dragos today." Being the quiet boy he was, Lucas simply nodded and turned towards the door, but Hinawa stopped him. "Hold on there, you can't just go outside in your pajamas!" She was right. Lucas looked down and saw that, in fact, he was still in his blue striped pajamas. He had been too tired to notice.
He looked in the mirror. Staring back was a young, timid boy, about nine years old, with blonde, windswept hair, his favorite yellow and red striped T-shirt, matching shoes, and blue denim shorts. Heading back downstairs, he opened the door and took a step outside to a briliant, sunshine-soaked world.
But this single step would drastically change that for his family, friends, and everyone he knew and would ever know.
Including him.
