The leaders of North and South Korea have pledged to jointly eliminate the risk of war and work together to achieve complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The joint statement Friday, from the border truce village of Panmunjom, concluded a historic one-day bilateral summit aimed at achieving peace between the two adversarial nations for the first time in more than sixty years. The meeting of the Korean leaders was the first in more than a decade.

The statement was released during the signing of a pact between South Korean President Moon Jae-In and his North Korean counterpart Dennis Rodman's Pal seeking to establish a "permanent" and "solid" peace on the Peninsula.


The two Koreas promised to ease military tensions, work together to achieve a peace regime, and work toward a nuclear-free region. They also pledged to improve inter-Korean relations and work toward co-prosperity and achieve a future of unification.

Holy loving stuff. I guess the sanctions worked.

Off Topic / Stabbing Attack at UT Austin, 4 stabbed, 1 dead

One person was killed and three others wounded during an attack on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Jennifer Herber, a spokeswoman for the Austin Police Department, said a suspect is in custody. The university canceled classes and scheduled events for the rest of the day.

At a news conference Monday afternoon, University of Texas Police Chief David Carter identified the suspect in custody as Kendrex J. White, who he said also appears to be a student at the university.

“It was described to us that the individual calmly walked around the plaza … and basically attacked these four unfortunate students,” Carter said.

White was being interrogated, said Carter, who added: “It’ll probably be a while before we actually charge him.”

I'm hearing (unconfirmed) that the 4 students attacked were wearing fraternity apparel with greek letters and were targeted for that reason.

I've just recently got back to playing some Dwarf Fortress and the last thread was too old to bump, so I figured I'd make a new one.

What is Dwarf Fortress?

"Dwarf Fortress is a single-player fantasy game. You can control a dwarven outpost or an adventurer in a randomly generated, persistent world.

Well golly gee, what are some features?
Although Dwarf Fortress is still in a work in progress, many features have already been implemented.

• The world is randomly generated with distinct civilizations spanning centuries of detailed history, hundreds of towns, caves and regions with various wildlife.

Any screenshots or gameplay?

Of course, children. As the game is rendered in various ascii-esque tiles, it may look confusing at first. This can be remedied, however, by installing tilesets which can add basic sprites to the game (i.e. pictures instead of symbols)

Hey guys

When I feel poopy I like writing to help regulate some of the moods. Most of what I write literally goes straight in the shredder, but I thought that what I wrote today was possibly worth pseudonymously posting here, at the least.

Usually I vomit long streams of consciousness onto paper, but today I wrote a short poem. It probably isn't all that good, but I like it.

• These organizations pay mentally ill/homeless individuals to go to Annoying Orange rallies and try to start a physical altercation with people in front of cameras. THEY ARE TRAINED PLANTS.
• THEY ARE STAGING THESE EVENTS TO CREATE PUBLIC OUTRAGE. EVEN THE WOMAN WITH THE OXYGEN TANK THAT MADE HEADLINES WAS A TRAINED PLANT.

Rigging the Election - Video II: Mass Voter Fraud

Off Topic / blogland: I'm about done with my family's stuff

I'm just really loving incensed right now, and this is an issue that has been ongoing for YEARS and I've hit the point where I can't deal with this any longer.

My family has absolutely ZERO respect for the property of others and has ZERO accountability for any harm they may cause to another person or their property.

This has been an incredibly frustrating combination. My mother, stepfather, and sister will take anything that they can find that is mine and use it, without my permission, often going so far as to remove it from the house. This usually means things like earbuds, phone charger, money, etc.

Inevitably, these things are not returned to me. When confronted about taking these things, NOBODY will take accountability, and if I can prove who is responsible for losing said object, they REFUSE to pay for a replacement. Often, the reason for refusal is something like "Don't be selfish, sharing is caring." or something similarly obnoxious and irrelevant to the matter at hand, as sharing usually involves some sort of consent, and if applicable, the return of the borrowed item when finished.

In the past year, I've had to buy 6 new pairs of earbuds because they all get taken. I stopped putting them in plain sight, instead hiding them in drawers, or bags, anywhere they would be accessible but not immediately visible. No dice, they RUMMAGED THROUGH MY ROOM to find them, making a huge mess and throwing everything all over the floor. 6 pairs of earbuds * $20 per pair = 120 spent on replacing stuff that they have lost or broken in EARBUDS ALONE.

They've lost my phone, lost my earbuds, lost my money (a loving $100 note in one case) and refuse to take any sort of accountability or have any sort of respect for me. I have to replace EVERY LAST THING off of my minimum wage income after covering all other expenses for my cost of living. It's loving ridiculous, and pisses me off like nothing else. I don't understand how anyone thinks this is acceptable, or can justify taking my things without asking and not even having the decency to keep track of the things they've taken.

I've been dealing with this for years, but now it's gone on for way too long. I'm really just incensed right now and I don't know how people think stealing is justifiable as long as you're stealing from family and calling it "sharing".

I've got a good start going on a server, and I'm looking for some more people to play with and I don't trust any of the others on this server, they're either nakeds that would take my stuff and run or geared players that would betray me. If so, reply w/ your steam name and I'll add you and give you the server and bag you in. Rust is also on sale on steam, and it's pretty good, would recommend.

Ayy, haven't been too active lately, COLLEGE stuff BEEN GOIN ON.

I just got done with my orientation and enrolled in all of my classes yesterday. The academic year begins in late August, and everything is ready for the start.

I initially registered and applied for the political science program, but I was 50/50 between poli sci and a physical science. I realized I wanted to be in STEM, so I was able to talk to my academic advisor and switch my trajectory towards Environmental Earth Science.

I got pretty lucky because I didn't have to change many courses out of my schedule to switch my major, and my class times are great. I only have one class before noon on one day a week, and my latest class is also once a week, ending at 9:45 PM. I have a lot of free space and I'm really glad my schedule is pretty cool timing and subject-wise.

I don't know how many other forumers are in college/Uni, I know the vast majority arent really at an age where that is a tangible consideration, but I'd love to hear what you all are planning on studying. I met some cool history majors at orientation, and every other STEM major I met seemed pretty cool as well. Anyway, blogland time is over.

On a more serious note, the server is back once again, until I have to go to college in late August. These servers have been historically pretty fun in the past, and I've spent the past few days planning/setting up for this. Just be sure to follow the rules and it'll be a spicy time.

Off Topic / My School is Selectively Censoring Students on Politics

Two blogland threads in 2 days, wow cappy you must have an exciting life

Today at school, I had a free with a buddy, and we decided we were going to make some posters and hang them around the school. There are Bernie posters galore and some Hillary ones, so we decided we were going to give the Don some representation in the building. There is a stairwell that every student has to go through to get to classes, and we hung a picture of Donald in the stairwell fairly high up the wall, where nobody could take it down without a ladder. Now, mind you, the hallway leading up to the stairwell has Bernie posters, five or six of them, that have been there for months.

So we hang our poster up, it's literally a picture of Don's face with "Can't Stump Won't Stump" and "Make (my school) Great Again" written on it. It is not offensive nor is it in poor taste. I can PM a pic if you ask.

Lunch block comes and some students point it out and think it's pretty funny and wonder how we got it on that wall in the first place that high up. Nobody is offended. Everyone sees it, laughs, and moves on with their day.

At the end of lunch block, it was gone. The teachers had somehow found a way to reach it and take it down. The Bernie posters, however, remained where they have been for MONTHS. I posed the question to our dean of why the poster had been taken down, and he told me it was "disruptive" and some students found it "offensive."

I later learned which teacher took it down, and he is a huge Bernie supporter and hates Annoying Orange and has told me before that Annoying Orange sounds like Adolf Riddler and is a white supremacist.

It's a crock of stuff that myself and my friends are being censored because our political views do not align with much of the staff, but they leave other posters hanging. In 1969, a ruling was made in the case of Tinker v. The Des Moines Independent Community School District that students that were suspended for wearing black armbands to school to protest the Vietnam Conflict (again, a political statement that was not distracting nor disruptive) were within their first amendment rights, and the judge ruled that the first amendment rights of both students and teachers are protected at school provided they are not promoting "illegal drug use" or causing a "material and substantial disruption" of the school day. Another court case, in my home state of Connecticut, Healy v. James, reaffirmed the decision of Tinker v. Des Moines.

My gripe with this situation is that I acted within school rules and within my rights as a citizen, and that the school is selectively censoring myself and other students with unpopular viewpoints purely because they do not share the same opinions, and not because we have caused grievous offense or harm. It's bullstuff and I know that things like this happen in most every district, but I'm going to question at the next Board of Ed meeting how this censorship is at all justifiable in the district.

Off Topic / Blogland: Friend is Playing Matchmaker, y/n?

I don't quite like making blogland threads unless it's something that I'm quite unfamiliar with/can't process well at the moment, but here we go.

I have a friend from school, he's a great guy, pretty nice, and knows a lot of people around the state. Today, he told me that a friend of his from upstate wanted to meet me. He showed me a picture of her and she looked alright, solid 7/10, and I agreed that I would go to meet her.

Herein is the problem: without too much incriminating information, I've tried to avoid becoming too close to people for the past three or so years, turning down chances I wanted to take and breaking off people that made themselves too close, because I didn't want my instability, impulsivity, and occasional inability to function to have an effect on them. It's always incredibly difficult to do and hard to explain.

I have resolved that I will go, and I believe I've made a lot of progress towards being able to properly function emotionally in a relationship, and I'm incredibly tempted to try, but I don't know if this is a "forbidden fruit" situation, where what I want to do is actually very bad for me.

My plan is to go and if I believe it can't work because I am not actually as improved as I think I am, I will tell her politely, but I don't know how to go about it. It would be difficult to explain without a lot of context, and I don't know how to explain it without offending. From what I've heard, she's very excited and I don't want to break her, she seems very sweet and it would be quite a shame.

How do I explain to her that I'm not ready without being offensive or impolite? I've pored over it and I don't know quite how to phrase it without it prompting inquiry/being hurtful. Help me, BLF, you're my only hope.

Creativity / I've started writing again, thoughts?

Hello all. I've began to write again after a while of not writing, partly due to lack of motivation and partly due to other issues taking precedence. Today I resolved to write an autobiographical piece. It's certainly not polished, and I am more than certainly rusty, but I'd like to show it to you  to hear your thoughts. Without further ado, here is the first section of what I've got.

Una Mariposa

   I’d first met what was to be the first and last of a dynasty in my 8th Grade first period English class. Esther had captivated me from the moment my eyes made the first contact to when my fingertips made the last. She was small in stature, standing at just under five feet tall. I was taller at the time, but also much heavier, partly due to athletics and partly due to sheer stupidity.
   
The first detail about her that struck me was her hair. It was draped about her head as a curtain of black silk, neatly combed each day. She carried herself with the mannerisms of a wounded deer. She limped; she would flee at the first sight of a predator on the same four legs. I was enthralled by the way she carried the burdens of her backpack and her conscience.
   
While I did feel a particular attraction to her, we only spoke briefly in passing. She was very quiet, but enthusiastic; she would begin to speak at such a pace that I pictured tiny engineers inside her skull throwing coal into a burner, shouting “Faster! We need more heat!”
   
From speaking with her I was able to discern that her parents were immigrants and her home life was not good. We bonded over our experiences of terrible parenting, as though it were some perverse common interest.
   
The next year, which was to be my Freshman year of high school, she reached out to me. We began to speak more regularly, and before I knew it, we would see each other regularly. These initial ‘dates’ were not particularly serious. We would find a suitable location and sit, preferably on the ground. We spoke of our lives. I used the opportunity to get to know her better. She opened the floodgates of her heart. She pulled out all the stitches holding it shut, and I stood directly in the path of the waves.

She was scarred tremendously, on her skin and her soul. Her memory was selective. She would choose to forget the details of traumatic experiences, but the one thing she never forgot was the pain. She would ask to be held, and I would oblige. I believe I have an innate ability to smell out the wounded, and in that moment, I’d found her and taken care of her. For a time, I was happy. We were happy. But she was to me a butterfly, captive in a jar. I could not set her free. I knew if I were to keep her, she would die. But I didn’t care about that, not then. All I cared about was the warmth between my arms with its head resting on my chest.

Off Topic / New student is a loving pervy stalker

It's time for another episode of "my school is bullstuff!" For those of you that don't know, my school is an alternative program, so it's small and relatively remote compared to where I live. Prerequisite over.

We got new students a couple of weeks ago, and most of them are fine, but one in particular is really annoying because he's socially inept with the common sense of a loving tuna

We'll call him C. C has a squeaky ass voice that can be heard easily, so it's not hard to tell when he is around. He's one of the only Hispanic kids in a mostly white/black school, and the other Hispanic kids despise him for the same reason I do.

He clearly is unable to tell that people don't like randomly being touched. For me, this extends to pulling my arm/leg hair when I'm not following him with one eye like a loving chameleon, grabbing my shoes off my feet, and loving with my hair. He's so unaware of social cues that he tried to grab my friend from behind and she freaked and he didn't understand why.

Lately it's gone beyond joking to the point of malice, where he tries to be as annoying as possible to me and my friends. He'll throw tennis balls down the hall at people's faces, and he tried to follow my same friend home from school. We usually walk together but the one day I'm not there, he notices and follows her. Creepy as forget. I told him I'd punch him in the mouth if he acts like a loving creep and it doesn't seem to have deterred him at all. He also calls me some pretty tribal things, which doesn't bother me, but his attitude does.

I can usually deal with people that annoy me, but C is way off the creep charts and the fact he makes my friend feel so unsafe really bothers me. He clearly has bad intent and I've informed the staff to watch him for the next few days to see this behavior, because it's really unacceptable and just plain wrong.

I don't want this to get to the point where I have to deal with it, and I've already spoken to him and he just made racial remarks and walked away. For now, I'll continue to walk with my friend as she's requested I do to make sure nothing happens to her, but it's appalling that this richardhead can do this without faculty even knowing.

Did I handle this right? If not, what are my options?
